Other Men's Horses (Texas Rangers) Elmer Kelton
Forge Books, 2010
The last one was a good one I was not disappointed in any way by this book, except that it was Kelton's last book. He will be sorely missed. He reuses some tried and true formulas and puts them together in a good book. A good read all around.

The Day the Cowboys Quit Elmer Kelton
Forge Books, 2008
Well-written story of conflict on the open range. . . Kelton's novel has some of the ingredients of pulp western fiction - big ranchers against the little guys, justice at the end of a rope, an honorable hero wearing a sheriff's badge - but he brings a great deal of insight, experience, and historical background to the ...

Barbed Wire Elmer Kelton
Forge Books, 2007
Elmer Kelton - my 'Western' writer hero In my last 35+ years I've read 80+ Louis L'Amour novels. His 'Western' novels kept me glued to the pages hoping the plane wouldn't land right now; or my wife wouldn't turn off the bedroom reading light; or, heaven forbid, I didn't have to get to work!
Moving to Texas ...

Eyes of the Hawk
Forge Books, 1981
Terrific- I couldn't put it down! I could not stop reading this! I am an Elmer Kelton fan and this is definitely one of his best. I do not like to read books written in first person, but this may be the best I've ever read. It's full of twists, turns and surprises, up to the very end. I loved it.

Lone Star Rising: The Texas Rangers Trilogy
Forge Books, 2003
Not your ordinary Western Mr. Kelton does an excellent job developing characters and weaving them into the story. I found the story to be suprisingly intriguing and unpredictable. I plan to read more of his work.

Forge Books, 2010
Ranger's Law I love his character development. Having read about 10 or 12 of Kelton's books I can say he is, in my opinion, the best Western author ever. I love the story lines and the way he develops and stages the story. You rarely know how the story will develop and the ...
