Thinking with Type: A Critical Guide for Designers, Writers, Edit & Students (Design Briefs)
Ellen Lupton
Princeton Architectural Press
, 2004
A solid book for type - with a twinge of humor
I like this book a great deal. The next time I have a chance to use this in a class (to teach) I will. There are lots of good examples, the language is clear, and it's not too ethereal or esoteric. I think it's a great introduction to typography and laid out very well.

Warning this book is the equivalent of waking from "The Matrix" (1999), and seeing the true nature of reality. From the prolog forward to the very end Ron Paul holds nothing back and for those few folk being introduced to this reality and how we have strayed from the ...

The prefect gift
A friend recently introduced me to Lynne Cheney's books, and I think they're some of the best history books for kids that I've seen. "We the People" is no exception. Mrs. Cheney does a great job of telling the story of our Founding in both an interesting and ...

You will not know American History without reading these papers. I am a history major and forget or never realized the importance of these papers. I know I never read them in college.
The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot
Naomi Wolf
Chelsea Green Publishing

Thinking is not a crime. Yet.
As a parent, as an activist, and as someone who is more than concerned with the way this country is heading, I felt this to be an important work to read; not only for myself, but for my children. We are living in a time where, if you do NOT assimilate to the ...

Founding Faith: Providence, Politics, and the Birth of Religious Freedom in America
Steven Waldman
Random House

Fair and balanced, as were they
A couple things make this book exceptional. The first thing the reader will soon notice is Waldman's even handed portrayal of Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Henry, Franklin, et al. He is, however, no apologist, nor should he be. Yet, the reasons for the "grand ...
