The Hopes of a Real Little Girl Changed the Lives of Millions Who Could Not Hear
After decades as a journalist specializing in covering the impact of religion in American life, I now focus on finding and recommending great books and films with spiritual themes. At first glance, this historical picture book about the development of American Sign ...
The Toilet Paper Tigers
Gordon Korman
Hyperion Books for Children, 1995
the Tigers kept me up all night
A few weeks ago, I picked this book up in the middle of the night because I couldn't sleep. I ended up not being able to sleep because I was too wrapped up in the story to put it down. I read it cover to cover. In one evening, the Toilet Paper Tigers easily seduced ...
The Miami Giant
Arthur Yorinks
Hyperion Books for Children, 1995
Great read for kids and adults alike!
The Miami Giant is filled with great illustrations, and a sweet, funny story. I enjoy it as much as my toddler does. Maurice Sendak does a beautiful job with the illustrations and includes so much detail. There seems to be something new to see each time we read it.
McDuff comes home
Rosemary Wells
Hyperion Books for Children, 2001
Ashley LOVED this Rosemary Wells book!
My name is Ashley. My class has been reading a lot of books by Rosemary Wells and McDUFF COMES HOME is my favorite book. I loved the part in the book when McDuff went over the fence and saw a rabbit. It was so cute!
Schooled
Gordon Korman
Hyperion Books for Children, 2008
Enjoyable
My middle school son is always looking for an excuse to NOT read. This book was one that he picked up without an argument. It was enjoyable, easy to read, short chapters, fun characters. It was definitely a hit with my, not so easy to please, son.
The Time Paradox (Artemis Fowl, Book 6)
Eoin Colfer
Hyperion Books for Children, 2008
Another Great Book in the Artemis Series
If you have read the previous Artemis books, this one holds up perfectly. I'd recommend this series to anyone at any age, and this book doesn't disappoint.
Warthogs in the Kitchen: A Sloppy Counting Book (Noisy Warthog Word Book)
Pamela Duncan Edwards
Hyperion Books for Children, 2001
A great book for any child.
My son (age 2) loves this book. He asks me over and over to read it to him. He is learning his numbers along with the story. The aritst has done a fantastic job making warthogs look adorable. Great Book!
The Chicken Doesn't Skate
Gordon Korman
Hyperion Books for Children, 1998
Another Classic from Korman
I will say I preferred I want to Go Home, but Korman has matured in his writing, and that's good! This is a very enjoyable story where I still laughed out loud!!!
Teddy's Christmas: A Pop-Up Book With Mini Christmas Cards
Pete Bowman
Hyperion Books for Children, 1997
A great book for toddlers
My 2-year-old absolutely loves this book (it's his favorite Christmas book). In fact, we had to sneak it back in the Christmas things we packed away last year, or he would have read it all year long. He especially liked the pop-up aspect of the book. And with the ...
Z Goes Home

Creative and innovative author/illustrator
Z goes home is a very creative book. Readers will wonder where Jon Agee comes up with his illustrations. Many will make you smile and laugh. Children and adults alike will enjoy "Z Goes Home" and many other of his works.

No Copycats Allowed!
Bonnie Graves
Hyperion Books for Children, 1998
One of a kind
My third grade son is probably not who this book was written for, but we took turns reading it aloud in bed one night and he wouldn't let me quit until we reached the last page. It has a good plot, and kids that are real. It's a page turner and funny too. Haven't ...
Love Songs of the Little Bear
Margaret Wise Brown
Hyperion Books for Children, 2001
One of our Favorites!
This is a neat book, one that both I and my 2.5 year old son like a lot. If I understand the notes at the end of the book, the illustrator recently created pictures to accompany poetry written by Margaret Wise Brown (Goodnight Moon), so this is actually a new book. ...
