Good copy of this movie
I liked this movie when I first viewed it in the theater. This is a good copy. Some reviews of earlier versions document a bad version. For a time travel fiction story this is one of my favorites. Decent story line and it keeps up your interest.

Probably The Last Great Black & White Movie Made
I am a war movie buff. I have seen them all. Heck, I have seen Patton a million times but I just went and bought Patton in Blu-Ray. And by the way, the Patton transfer is the best older movie transfer I have yet seen, it looks as good as the day it opened at the ...
Ace in the Hole - Criterion Collection
Kirk Douglas
Criterion, 2007
See Kirk Douglas act like a total ace-hole!
In 1950 Billy Wilder was riding high. Fresh off the enormously successful Sunset Boulevard, the German-born Wilder decided to make a very different film; one somewhat critical of the society of his new home, the United States. That film was called Ace in the Hole. ...

L'infamie
I'm not a Stanley Kubrick fan, nor do I particularly care for Hollywood films. So I was surprised and delighted to discover what a gem of a film "Paths of Glory" is. Well directed, for the most part well acted, well directed, and conveying a great message: what more ...

Still works today
Some of the best actors in Hollywood are in this film, but the best performance, as far as I am concerned is by Burt Lancaster. When I read this book and saw the movie as a teenager, it scared me to death to think how easy it would have been to topple our government. ...

Disney's 20000 Leagues Under the Sea
Disney's 20000 Leagues Under the Sea was one of the most influential film experiences of my youth. I definitely rate it as a five star film with good special effects, which though dated, were very good for the time. The best of the special effects scenes was the giant ...

"...THIS IS THE U.S.S. NIMITZ... WHERE THE HELL ARE WE?..." The time is now. The place is aboard the U.S.S. Nimitz, America's mightiest nuclear-powered aircraft carrier on maneuvers in the Pacific Ocean. Suddenly, a freak electrical storm engulfs the ship and triggers the impossible: The Nimitz is hurtled back in time to December 6, 1941, mere ...

Words fail me
I'm one of those people who cries easily in movies. I cry at sad parts, I cry at happy parts, I have no problem with turning on the water-works. I have seen a lot of great movies in my time, many of which have indeed caused me to tear up, but NOTHING prepared me for ...
The Vikings
Kirk Douglas,
Tony Curtis
MGM, 2002
A joyous romp that offers everything you could ask for in an adventure movie
The title sequence sets the tone of The Vikings perfectly: the Bayeaux Tapestry as animated by UPA with narration by Orson Welles. Whereas a lot of Sixties epics became so introspective and glum that the genre ended up disappearing up its own backside, this 1958 romp ...

All star cast
I love this movie with so many movie stars. It has a different twist to the plot and you don't know until the end who Addie has run off with. If you like old movies, this is a good one.

One of the rare instances where the juxtaposition of rock and classical works
If you're on the fence about buying your first Metallica album, check out "S&M." It serves as the closest thing they've done to a greatest hits album, and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra (conducted by the esteemed Michael Kamen) adds a very nice level of depth to ...

In Homer's epic, Ulysses (Kirk Douglas) journeys home to Ithaca after 10 years of war. Along the way, the hero battles a Cyclops, resists the fatal singing of the Sirens, and enjoys a brief interlude with a seductive enchantress. Years later, he returns to his wife, who has long thought him dead, and must master one final challenge

Original and Still the Best
Even if you compare this movie to today's superhero movies such as Iron Man or The Dark Knight, you would enjoy this movie more. There is a more human element to this and this is in part due to great writers and phenomenal actors. The problem with most superhero ...

Nostalgia: Memories of Ann-Margret & Old Tucson
As a bit-part traveling salesman in the film, I had the distinct pleasure of having a scene with Ann-Margret where I had to steady her as the train rolls into town (actually just fifty feet back-and-forth for each take). Ann-Margret held a suitcase in each hand, so Hal ...
