Fun and on target for interest

Ms. Frank has done it again by writing such an engaging novel. Plan time to read because you will not want to put this book down.

I can't get enough of her books...

This is not just a beach/vacation read. Ms. Frank takes you there, you can feel the breeze, taste the salt air, and you feel like you are among friends. If you aren't a fan, you will be after reading this book. I love the main character liked how she grew. Just goes to show you, that you are never to old to change (for the better I might add). Love the book, keep them coming...Highly recommended.

Best Dorothea Benton Frank Book to date!

The Land of Mango Sunsets is Ms. Frank's best novel to date. There is drama, heartache, aging parents, love, parenthood, relationship troubles, grandparenting, infidelity, snobbery, and above all else - humor! I am especially touched by the character's fight against cancer, as my sister has been dealing with that now for 2 years. Ms. Frank captures the emotions that we all feel when going through something like this. Ms. Frank's latest novel is superb. I'm recommending it to all my friends.

As good as always

There weren't any passages in this book that made me laugh until I cried like all the other books, but the same warmth, love, hope and Southern Hospitality is there in full strength. I finished the book in one day. It was a relaxing read that made me want to go pull all her other books off the shelf to read again.

This is, however, the first book of hers that I have read that clearly has a message about deeper issues, such as environmental issues and cancer. Benton never reached the preachy stage about this, but she clearly advocates organic foods and recycling. Not that any of that is a bad thing.

Liked it but have I read something like it before???

This is Dot's latest. I think it's her best. I love her writing style with her humor and Southern theme. Her characters seemed more memorable in this book. I LOVED Kevin. The visual in my head of what he looked like and how he talked- I was thinking Nathan Lane in "Bird Cage".

I enjoyed the transformation of the main character, Miriam to Mellie. Great lesson. Snobby woman realizes what a prude she is and does a 180 on her attitude.

The only downfall to this book is, the plot seems like a reproduction of one of her other books. I just read Plantation. This book had almost the same plot. You need some new ideas Dot!! I still give her cudos for a good read though. I find myself laughing outloud with some of her phrases. "No, if they had anymore children they could name him or her Garbage Dump McGee Finnegan Swanson, call him/her GDMF, and I would not utter a single word about it."
