Immensely helpful
This book presents a world of scientific information relating to
diet
and
health
in a clear and understandable manner. Although the concepts are not mainstream, the scientific support for the author's position is compelling. I have seen marked changes in my
weight
and health since adopting many of the guidelines suggested in this book.
Compelling, Life Changing Information
I heard about this book when reading, "A Cancer Therapy". I originally checked it out from my local library, but found that there was so much information, it needed to be added to my home reference library. The science listed in this book is absolutely compelling and life changing! I have been doing research into the link between animal based products, namely meat and dairy, and disease and this book really spelled it out using scientific data and detailing years worth of experiments documenting the relationship between the two. This book is a MUST read for anyone. It has literally changed my life! We have changed the way we eat so that we could live a
health
y lifestyle and enjoy this life to the fullest. What's the point of living a
long
life if you're sick, in pain, or fighting a disease? I want to live to be a healthy great-grandmother. I also feel a responsibility as a mother and a wife to feed my family the best way I know how. I am hoping with the information I have learned in this book, as well as others, I can train my small children in healthy eating habits and possibly prevent them from battling disease or cancer in the future. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK !!!!!!

Read that book if you wish to know about food. What is good and what is not in the scientific well explained way. A must read book for all ages. I keep giving this book as presents for all my friends. I want to make a difference in their lifes in the positive way.
Important information for general education
Dr Campbell has a general disregard for the medical profession which is somewhat pervasive in his story. There are s
ever
al scientific elements missing from the studies, however, he presents in a pretty clear manner a huge scandal in America - Go figure, it's all about money after all! The
study
in
China
is a refreshing look into the reality of living the easy life and the diseases and cancers we bring on ourselves as a result. Fascinating reading!

Condemns Animal Protein Consumption
In this book, T. Colin Campbell asserts that consumption of animal protein leads to heart disease and cancer, and suggests that going vegetarian can actually r
ever
se heart disease and arrest the growth of cancer (and that old age need not be the ordeal that it usually is in America today). He refers to the
China
Study
, an extensive study of
diet
ary patterns across various regions of China. He claims that the study found that those who consume less animal protein get fewer "diseases of affluence" such as heart disease and cancer.
The author also hypothesizes that consuming animal protein, including dairy products, can lead to autoimmune diseases, kidney stones (shudder!), diabetes, blindness, and other conditions.
Campbell asserts that science in this country is strongly influenced by industries that sell food products containing animal protein, and also asserts that American medicine attempts to treat diseases with drugs and surgery rather than with better
nutrition
.
However, there are many who question the findings in the book, and even
most
Eastern diets contain at least some meat. While Americans as a whole do eat too much meat, and this book is a good warning to cut back on meat consumption to an extent, one might be wary about entirely eliminating it from your diet.
