Campaigning replaces governing
This is an easy read with incontravertable details of life in the
Bush
White
House
. When you compare the descriptions of
what
went wrong with the actions of the current candidates, you will see they are in danger of making some of the same mistakes.
What Happened
Now I understand why Scott wrote this book. Being a religious person and having been lied to by the
Bush
Inner Circle, he felt betrayed by the people he was trying to protect. I would have written the book also. Anyone who has not read this book is missing out on who Scott McClennan really is. Powerful book.

what happened in the White House
Sad but true. The author was overly kind to George W
Bush
. The book is a segment of history that needs to be said. 8 years of the worst president in the history of the United States. This makes for an interesting and informative period of deceipt. The author has nothing to gain by revealing
what
really is behind the lying and the mistakes that were made by the President. Great reading.
Same old material, just repackaged.
I give this book only four stars because this material is already out there prior to the publication of this book and it is incomplete for not stressing the neocon role. I cannot blame the author for exploiting the fact he was in the inner circle of the
Bush
administration in order to make a fast buck on regurgitating old material. However, the fact "he was there" seems to give the old material new life. For example, when Bin Laden allegedly attacked the trade towers (you know, that demolition job everybody ignores, especially the third building that went down in spite of no plane hitting it) why did we attack Saddam? First they tried to establish a loose connection with Bin Laden and Iraq, and when that failed they invoked the weapons of mass destruction excuse from Bush's neocon advisers. Then, when Scott Ritter exposed this to be phony, and showed the Israeli lobby's efforts to get the U.S. into a war with Israel's neighbors (simply read the Commentary or any other neocon rag on-line), that got swept under the rug with "soft press questions." The author fails to stress the neocon factor that underlies Bush's foreign policy. The book fills a few holes for me, but it doesn't really emphasize the serious high crimes Bush and his cronies are liable for. Anyone else would get the electric chair for jeopardizing the lives of thousands of people and for sacrificing thousands of people in order to please AIPAC and oil men. Bush's behavior as commander and chief is pathetic. I recall how his wife, the "first lady," acted toward Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He was a complete gentleman, and she acted disgraceful by addressing him with profanity. So
what
if he denied the holocaust! Is that a crime to have critical thought? If I were Mahmoud Ahmadinejad I would have punched her in the face. Pat Buchanan's book "Where the Right Went Wrong" is far superior than this book.

Less interesting than the hype it generated
Seriously, this book is fluff. It's not much more than we already knew about the
Bush
White
House
, except it was written by McClelland. I would have liked this book better if I had waited for the paperback.
