clear, concise, and compelling
Nancy Pearcey has the ability to communicate what seems to be impossibly deep subjects, in elegantly simple terms. This is the best book I've ever read on this subject. Her research is so thorough that, believe it or not, even the appendex is interesting!
I notice that those who choose to criticize this book spend their time attacking Pearcey. I suspect it's because her work is so well documented that it's difficult if not impossible to attack it directly.
If you're going to only read one book that deals with the American culture and want an honest aplogetic on the Christian faith.. this is the book to read.

An excellent book
This is an excellent book, well written and researched, with almost 70 pages of notes on the chapters. Ms.Pearcy's writing is clear and readable, yet covers many weighty subjects which we all need to understand. We need to know where so many crazy ideas (which we've inherited) have come
from
. We need
truth
, not lies which parade around, posing as valid arguments and/or theories. We need to know the truth of what is.
Highly reommended for every thoughtful reader.

Excellent Book
This is one of the best one-volume books on a practical apologetic for a Judeo-Christian worldview. Great stuff on Intelligent Design theory and excellent insight on how different philosophies have shaped American Christian thought.

Clear thinking from a clear thinker
One would never know that Nancy Pearcey does what she does in a "part-time" capacity. This book,
Total
Truth
, is as comprehensive a look at the Christian world view as I've ever seen. She is clear and makes excellent points throughout. I appreciated the fact that Pearcey supported her views with plenty of research. For too many years,
Christianity
has been held a
cultural
captive; every thinking Christian ought to read this book and perceive the world around them with a whole new persepctive. By no means is it "easy" reading, but worthwhile it is, as I give it a big thumbs up. Having enjoyed her previous book (with Chuck Colson) How Now Shall We Live as well, I look forward to hearing more
from
this clear-thinking author.
