Excellent book for a purest
I am a big fan of the "For
Dummies
" series and this book is no exception. The information in this book is best for someone who wants to create a web page literally from scratch and understand the basic tenants behind
html
. Those interested in creating a professional looking web page quickly should skip this book and refer to "Creating Web Pages for Dummies" which helps navigate the plethora of tools available for web page designers.
This book serves as an exceptional guide and as a reference.

A good place to start but ONLY for beginers!
I am very computer literate, but knew nothing about
HTML
. I bought this book to create a web site, and a week later I had a web site running.
If you know HTML, or have already created a web ste before, then don't buy this book. If you have never done any HTML work, then the book is great. It really is a beginers guide, and at that it does a great job. As a reference forget it, and don't buy it if you want to fine tune or tone up your HTML skills.
One major gripe. The Chapter on Frames is just sooooo wrong, that I recommend you don't even read it. I originally built my first site with frames, and then had to dump it and start over.

HTML 4 for Dummies
I found this item to be informative, easy to follow and well worth the price that I paid for it. The book arrived when I expected it.
I would recommend this book, as a starting point, to anyone who is interested in learning
HTML
.
HTML 4 For Dummies
Dummies
books are quite valuable in their variety of topic choice, and knowledge base. This book is good, and an easy read when used as a reference base.
HTML
is not for everyone, but is certainly of interest to those of us who venture into constructing web pages.
