A great guide to the hidden side of Florida.

As a scuba diving instuctor and an active diver who visits the Florida panhandle at least six times a year, I was delighted to find a book about the springs of Florida. Undoubtedly, Florida's reefs and wrecks are better known, but to access them, one must first go through the condo-congested coastal areas and tourist jammed highways and airports. The springs are generally located in the interior, which means less development and less traffic, but more effort to reach and fewer amenities. The photographs, maps, and great detail about the natural history (particularly the fauna)are documented evidence that the effort is worth it, and evoke wonderful memories for those who have been there.For somebody interested in diving in the springs, this book captures the feel of this particular environment more effectively than the other guides to diving in Florida, and should be a great book for non-diving nature lovers as well.
