Why life is an illusionh

A number of years ago I remember feeling angry virtually all the time, at everyone and everything. And this anger led me into frequent bouts of depression where I found myself barely able to get to work in the morning and earn myself a living. Everything appeared covered by my foul perceptions.

It was not until I discovered ACIM and committed myself to daily study that I was able to dissipate much of that morose fog which surrounded me and replace it with at least a degree of clarity to again find some happiness.

My study led me to see and to experience what I believe is meant by the term "life" as used within the context of "Disappearance"--The Disappearance of the Universe: Straight Talk About Illusions, Past Lives, Religion, Sex, Politics, and the Miracles of Forgiveness (a term which seems to be the tripping point for some readers) and why "life" is said to be an illusion. So...when I see people dying, when I see great injustices perpetrated, when I see losses of any kind... and I then make my happiness contingent on "Life" working out, necessarily, in a way that I would designate as acceptable... then that is succumbing to the illusion of "life". That is the way of fear, and that is the way of creating hell on earth. Life is not the same as Living.

It is the pining and inflexible way of relating to the world, that all must work out according to my plans, which I believe thrust me into such a deplorable state. And it was the reversal of this thinking through studying ACIM, that assisted me with regaining my sanity and experiencing the Love of Living-- as opposed to continually re-enacting the tragedy of life.

Whether people pass on or that buildings and empires crumble, or that people lose their homes is NOT the primary issue here. It is the meaning that I attache to these events which is of importance. This book is not about imputing grief or empathy with ridicule. It is not about nihilism and its corresponding moral relativism-- because they too are part of the illusion, but it is about releasing the dark lens of fear( of "Life") for the vision of Love.
And this doesn't have to happen through ACIM-- as the Course itself so states.At least some of the readers disenchanted with Disappearance probably concur with affirmative principles of the Course though, as it appears to me, they (understandably) misintepreted the phrase that "life is an illusion".

Exciting, Accurate, Motivating

I have been reading books that talk about A Course in Miracles, how the universe is holographic, the importance of forgiveness... but WOW. I couldn't put Disappearance of the Universe down! I probably would have purchased the book sooner if I had known that it reads like a novel, tells us about the future, and clears up some misperceptions about the past.

What you always thought you knew

For all the days you wished the universe would disappear, now you can understand why. I'm not a cynic, nor am I blindly attached to any religious principle, but for anyone on a serious spiritual journey, this is a valuable read. How refreshing to have an opionion that doesn't need defending while blasting away at every belief system, religious doctrine, historical "fact" and self-realization theory out there. Most enjoyable.

great book

This is the audio version of Gary Renard's book titled "The Disapearce of the Universe". The way the book was written - as conversation between three people (one of them the author)- it turns into the audio format amazingly well. Leasons in this book are very mind opening, and the three of "characters" are often very funny with there explaination.

VERY INTERESTING & ENLIGHTNING - WOULD HAVE GIVEN IT EVEN MORE IMPORTANCE IF WRITER HAD NOT INTERJECTED HIS PERSONAL POLITICAL VIEWS WHICH I FELT DETRACTED FROM SPIRITUAL ASPECTS - EVEN WITH THAT NEGATIVE, BOOK COULD BE OF GREAT VALUE TO MANY PEOPLE - BOOK SHOULD BE READ MORE THAN ONCE TO ENSURE A COMPLETE UNDERSTANDING OF THE WONDERFUL MESSAGE IT CONTAINS - IT'S A WINNER
