A sensory roller coaster cushioned with cotton wool

How I loved feeding on the rich tapestry sound scape during those switched on days/nights/days of the mind blowing acid 70's! And here we are in the new millennium nearly 30 years on, but still this masterpiece not just holds but envelopes your attention. Smell the wood fire in autumn, see the clouds dispersing after the spring storm. It's simply a Cracker!!

This Is A Great Trip In Electronics

I received this album back in the 70's as a present not knowing what the heck to expect. This was back when Wendy was Walter. I remember listening to this and finding it so incredibly bizarre because I was so young. Now I feel that this is an incredible experience. This album came back to haunt me in college when a classmate of mine was really into Wendy's music and wound up turning me on to the other albums as well. I'll never forget the deep conversations about the Walter/Wendy conspiracy and sitting down in music class and analyzing each and every movement of this record. i was so happy when it showed up in CD format a couple years ago along with extra tracks. Wendy definitely has kept the Moog alive for so many years and plays it as an instrument. I can't explain it, you gotta hear it for yourself.

La versión remasterizada a 20 Bits de Wendy Carlos de Sonic Seasonings es muy bella para escuchar. Ciertos pasajes son muy dramáticos, como Winter, con esos aullidos de lobos y la atmósfera gélida, ventosa. Otros parecen experimentos sonoros (Summer. La obra es muy bella y vale la pena ser escuchada. Sin embargo, Aurora Borealis y Midnight Sun adolecen de repetición, casi no tienen estructura, son demasiado "monocromáticas", y cuesta mucho empatizar con ellas. El Out-take de Winter, en donde parece que estuviésemos en una cabaña, al lado del fuego, sentados en una mecedora, con un gatito ronroneador en nuestro regazo es novedosa y aligera el ambiente misterioso con que finaliza Winter. Dicen que los primeros reciben todo lo malo. Wendy Carlos ha sido la primera en varios hitos del ambiente musical. Y justamente, a muchos años de la aparición del "New Age", esta obra recibe los dardos de la vanguardia y cuesta bastante ver sus méritos.
