make sure you get custody of this blender if you and your spouse split up
Oh sure, I tried other brands, letting the ex keep the old
beehive
blender
when I moved out. We'd inherited that from his parents who'd had since before McCain was born. Workhorse. The blender, I mean.
Big mistake to let that blender go. Tried other brands. Phooey. Finally replaced the beehive. Nothing works like this powerhouse of a blender. Grinds through ice in nothing flat. Smoothies are a cinch. Blends and mixes faster than the food processor. Cleans much more easily. Looks classy on the countertop.
Bonus: the pitcher is one piece: one solid piece of glass: no separate handles, bands or tricky hidden trigger deals in the lid that only sometimes trip the on or off switch ... like the terrible other brand of blender I just threw away.
And who knew you could make Jello desserts in a blender? Dude - you add boiling water to the Jello, crushed ice, other stuff and it sets up in 15 minutes. Shazzam.

Another new blender
Does no one make a
blender
that will last over a year anymore? Technically, I should wait a year to write this reveiw. I've had it a few months so far and it's not a bad blender. I've done smoothies, gazpacho and pesto with no issues. I like that the mechanics of the blender are metal and that the pitcher is glass. It's powerful and works well.
good blender but dislike speed and controls
My previous

blender
sadly broke down after almost 10 yrs, so I replaced it with this one which seems to closely resemble it. I have used it so far only to make smoothies and they turn out almost as good as before.
The main thing I dislike about this model is the speed. The low speed is stronger than the low of my old blender. It tends to splatter the liquid which ends up coating up the sides and lid (causing some waste, more cleanup and not as thorough blending of ingredients) and also cause air pockets right above the blades. So I've had to alter my smoothie technique a little:
- Pulse to blend.
- Stop and let the liquid settle back down and the air bubble to
come out. Maybe scrape down the sides.
- Repeat.
Also, the switch must be held down to continuously blend on 'low'. My previous blender had a round dial control with low and high continuous speeds and I miss that simple feature.
The noise is a little louder...about equivalent to the high speed on my previous blender.
