A Little Magic, A Lot of Love

The first in a trilogy, Jewels of the Sun, brings us Jude Murray retreating to a cottage in Ireland to soothe her wounds after a divorce. Meeting Aidan Gallagher shakes her out of her narrow view of life while Jude explores the folklore of the ghost she finds in the cottage.
A well written story of a woman's discovery of her depths and overcoming feelings of inadequacy. Includes some great scenes of women bonding over shopping and stories shared over a drinking spree. Lovely seductions, great descriptions of Ireland and a wonderful cast of people.

This is a fantasy romance that is sure to warm the body and spirit of even the most lovelorn souls amongst us. Many young women will spot themselves in the character of Jude Murray--unsure of herself, trying so hard to live up to the expectations of others.

Usually considering myself "above" falling for the ploys of a romance, I found myself caught up in Jude and Aidan's love affair, cheering them on, and even shouting out "Oh, you dipsticks!" at times. This story will really pull you in!

Jewels of the Sun also spoke to me much of hearth and home--the need for its warmth and stability in the cold aesthetics of the modern world. So, clearly, and much to my shame, I fell in love with the story and its characters. Patricia Daniels also does a lovely job limning the shape and character of the book with her voice--an evocative reading.

Another Awsome Trilogy

I absolutely loved this Trilogy! This was the 3rd trilogy I read of Nora Roberts and trust me I haven't stopped there. I can't get enough of her work. Right now I'm in the middle of Moon Shadows which is actually 4 books in one like the Once Upon series (which I'm currently in the middle of too!). But this Trilogy you cannot put down.

Enjoyable, albeit a bit predictable

I really enjoyed this book. It took place in a great Irish setting. The characters were very believable. However, the plotline was a little too predictable. I would have liked to have seen a few more "twists and turns" before the lovers got together. Also, there are some very steamy sex scenes. I personally could have stood a little more mystery there too; so, if that type of thing is "a little much" for you as well, be warned.
