Pawleys Island

I just finished Pawley's Island and now I've read all of MS. Franks books. I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed every single one of them. She's a wonderful writer and I especially love her sense of humor. It's such a let down not having one of her books to read. I guess you can tell that I'm a great fan of her work. I can hardly wait for the next one to come out. It was a very good read.

Pawleys Island

As an avid reader, I can't believe I missed finding Dorothea Benton Frank. She's funny and very accurate about life in South Carolina. It is so great that she has many other books, because they are definitely on my list.

Perfect Beach Book!

Very entertaining, light reading. I have enjoyed all of this author's works, with Plantation being the be all to end all. Enjoyable characters, lots of laughs, especially in the courtroom with the husband and his mistress and her [...] enhancement issues. Four stars instead of five, I enjoyed it immensely, but it's only a beach book and not a classic.

A Pleasant Read, but no fireworks here

This was my first book of Ms. Frank and although I did enjoy it I was suprised by the lack of depth in the story. I found it to be very predictable and at times just silly and not believable. I was expecting a rich story full of Southern tradition. I'm from the South and I was suprised also by the rich lifestyles of these people. When I think of 'low country' people, I don't think of Jaguars and caviar. I was expecting more down to earth people with much more depth of story in their lives. I mean, this is the south, right? And we southerners take family and loyalty seriously. I have a few more of Ms. Bentons books to read and I'm keeping an open mind. I'll give her another try and hope I'm not disappointed.
