same kind of different as me
This is a wonderful book. One to be passed around for other people to read.
Same Kind Of Different As Me
If you have not read this book, it is a must read. You will not have a dry eye when you are done. It is such a heart touching, as well as awe inspiring true story. I have not read a book this good in many many years. Everyone I recommend it to says the
same
thing.
I remember when..
...my grandpa telling a story, about a N*^^#@ that got hung from a tree, when he was a younger man. I could not bear to hear that story - my imagination ran wild with the vision of it. It was never funny to me. That was during the 60s & 70s. My sister and I would chastise our dad if he used the "N" word. We grew up in the South, during times when some of our neighbors still had out houses. In 1969, we moved to a rural community, a mile down a dirt road from the main road. I remember the farm kids being kept out of classes to work in the tobacco fields when school started each fall. It was rough, but nothing like Denver's rough. Thankfully today, more and more, kids are growing up without seeing color.
Thank you Denver and Ron for trusting each other and telling this wonderful story of faith and true friendship. God Bless Debbie for her strenght and courage, and most of all, perseverance to see her vision through.

Excellent. Easy Read! Inspiring. We all can make a difference!
indifferent
I think the story would have been much more interesting had it been told entirely from Denver's point of view. I found the whole religious and spiritual overtones a little too much at times and a little preachy. I'm not sure if I would recommend this book. I thought the beginning started out ok, but midway through it became a little odd.
