Cream cheese frosting!

"A Course in Miracles" is a seriously deep and rich guide to ultimate spiritual healing and awakening. It is also frustrating and difficult at times to understand...I've put it back on my shelf for years at a time during my 18 year acquaintance with the Course, figuring I was just not smart enough or advanced enough to really understand.

Then Gary Renard came along with his first book "The Disappearance of the Universe". Gary and his teachers brought the messages of the course to a level I could more easily understand and enthusiastically practice. Reading "The Disappearance of the Universe" has been a strong catalyst for my new-found dedication to "A Course in Miracles" and it's author, Jesus.

When Gary wrote his second book, "Your Immortal Reality", I couldn't imagine what could be added to the information and insight in his first book. But, of course, I had to have a copy...right away! In this new book, Gary and his teachers, Arten and Pursah, extend and deepen the reader's knowledge and understanding of the Course. A focus on undoing the ego and awakening to our true nature using advanced forms of forgiveness and mind-training has given me new inspiration to actually practice the techniques on a daily basis. My own growth has accelerated due to my decision to be more dedicated and consistent in my practice, and I thank my brother Gary for that inspiration.

I've noticed, from reading some of the one and two star reviews of this book, that some people find Gary's humor to be hard to take. I must admit, I have groaned at some of the jokes and smart-ass remarks Gary makes, but at the same time, his willingness to be somewhat crude and to show us his "stuck places" has been refreshing. Gary definitely does not try to come across as the perfect and enlightened guru/know-it-all. He just lets us all see he is a work in progress, as are all of us still living within this illusion. I also recognize that if I am upset or judgmental about something Gary has said, "I" need to look at myself and do some forgiveness work as well.

I strongly recommend this book and Gary's first book and, especially, A Course in Miracles. I consider "The Disappearance of the Universe" to be like a big piece of German chocolate cake, "Your Immortal Reality" to be a thick layer of cream cheese frosting, and I am hoping Gary's third book will be a big scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream...yummy and delicious! Hungry for knowledge? Read these books!

An enlightening book! Follow Gary Renard first book "The disappearance of the Universe" who is a must too!

Enjoyable Read and Good, Basic Spirituality

Although not absolutely necessary, read the Disappearing Universe first. This is a wonderful continuation of DU for those craving more. To the point. If you focus on no other teachings for your enlightenment, this is IT at the basic, core level of spirituality. Bravo, Gary Renard for putting it all together! And Thank You to all those who had a hand in bringing this concept to the masses!!

Entertaining.

I read this book and the Disappearance of the Universe. I enjoyed them both. I gave this book three stars because of its entertainment value. I won't get into the discussion of whether Arten and Pursah are "real" because followers of a Course in Miracles know everyone on the planet is merely a symbol. So, what is "real?" Not our projections, certainly. Anyway, Gary's books weren't really helpful towards meeting my goal of forgiveness and happiness. But is it really fair to compare this book with the Course in Miracles? But if the Course in Miracles exists, why do we even need Gary's books? For me, entertainment only. I have heard Gary say his books have helped people understand the Course in Miracles better. This wasn't my experience because Gary didn't present anything new or say anything in a way that shed additional light on what the Course in Miracles already presents. I think of Gary's books as "A Course in Miracles 101." But I always look forward to when he publishes a new one because I do have fun reading them.

The Course in Miracles isn't a book you can just start reading without any preparation, in my opinion. If Gary's books help prepare people, which I can imagine they do, what the heck. The more the merrier. I'm just grateful for any publication dealing with the Course in an uncorrupted way, which I believe Gary's books do. I especially appreciate that Arten and Pursah focus on an unadulterated concept of non-duality. I personally think Gary's annoying and sexist and I often wonder why he chooses to project that image of himself but that's no big deal. If you are like me, however, and consider Gary's books to be too "lightweight" I recommend The Pathwork Guide Lectures channeled by Eva Pierrakos. Excellent stuff!
