A Taste of Bourdain
I love this guy. His show is the best on tv, and this writing is a great companion piece. He is unpretentious, earthy, honest and visceral (no pun intended, well, maybe a little). We TIVO his program to watch again and again, take hints (even if we don't get to travel like he does or god forbid, eat WHAT he eats), and never get tired of his putting himself on the line. The best thing about this book are the disclaimers at the end, addressing each chapter with honest reflection on how he's changed (or not) since writing the piece in question, any second thought he may have. But what comes through both on the air and through these pages, is Bourdain's humanity, his appreciation for the human condition. What makes a cuisine great? How to get the best from what is available? How hardship, deprivation and necessity are reflected in some of the greatest dining experiences to be had, many at the side of the road. He never turns his nose up at an offered meal, recognizing many times that this meal may entail some sacrifice on the part of the person offering it.

Loved this book
I can't get enough of the bad boy chef Anthony Bourdain. I loved every page of this book, just like Kitchen Confidential. Bourdain writes in a entertaining style and he is funny and as blunt as can be.
Thanks Tony!
One of the best if you like "off the wall". I love his tv show and the contents of the book reflects the same personality. The recipies are not your Betty Crocker variety, more European than the common casserole. His voice comes through loud and clear. A nice complement to your standard mealtime offerings. Conversation pieces.
He loved the gift
This book was on my son's christmas wish list. He loved it. He's a professional chef and watches him on TV all the time.

Solid
Great book,
Not as entertaining as Kitchen Confidential, but this is still a good book for those who enjoy the show No Reservations.
