Perfect for the Network+ Exam

I just used this book and a few online tests and got an 833/900 on the exam. The book pretty much covers everything, just read it through a few times and take the practice tests and you should pass easily.

Great book for preparing for the network+ exam!!!

I used this book to study for the network+ exam and passed it without a hitch! The book is quite accurate and the test prep cd is an excellent resource when preparing for the actual exam. The only reason why I gave it four stars was due to the fact the test prep cd was missing some elements that were on the network+ exam, such as the apple talk protocol and its various parts (the book mentioned and exaplained the protocol), but you could pay for the premium test, which I considered a rip off to sell seperately. I had a score of 88%, most of the parts I missed were result of rarely used technologies (example appletalk), stuff not mentioned in the book, or stuff that I totally forgot (nervousness, heh).

An Excellent Study Guide for the Network+ Exam!

I highly recommend the "Exam Cram 2 Network+" by Mike Harwood to anyone who may be preparing to take CompTIA N10-002. In fact, this is the only material I used to study for the exam, and I scored 873/900. (One caveat, I am a CCIE with tons of networking experience.)

The book is laid out in a straight-forward, concise, and cohesive manner. Each chapter opens with an introduction of the CompTIA Network+ objectives that will be discussed thereafter. The information is clearly presented with just enough detail to help the reader understand and grasp concepts, rather than overloading the student with too much. The end-of-chapter review questions test the reader's ability to recall and retain the concepts presented. Finally, the quizzes at the end of the book and on the companion CD are also excellent tools for the soon-to-be certified Network+ technician.

I have two minor faults with the book. First, the text probably provides a bit too much coverage on some of the legacy protocols, such as Token Ring, NetWare and AppleTalk. But you never know, you may still run into those out in the field and would be good knowledge to have. Secondly, I think the text could benefit from one or two case studies or scenario chapters.

Great purchase!

Great purchase for those wanting to certify in this study. This book over-prepares you for the actual test, which is excellent. The actual test is meant to measure basic knowlege of networking priciples and theory and the book does a thorough job of covering all the bases. The only thing that robs it of the a 5 star rating is the fact that the book has errors.

Network+ Exam Cram N10-002

I found the book to be very helpful and loaded with valuable information. It is a good buy for the money, however the Network+ Certification has been updated to 2005 (N10-003).
So you may want to look for something that is fully up to date.
