Most enjoyable autobiography I have read

I can't recommend this book highly enough. There is never a dull moment. John tells his story in a very personal, intimate way and with a wonderfully dry sense of humour. I learned a lot and I laughed a lot. A book I will definitely go back and re-read.

Must read. Must read.

The only part of this book that distressed me was the fact that I recognized myself among the general public which he describes. I've learned so much.

John Hockenberry has a gift for writing. His story is direct with a splash of wit and humor. My enjoyment of this book is beyond words.

My thanks to him for sharing.

The most informative and inspiring book I read

Hockenberry's book was the first one I read after I got in a wheelchair myself. I since have read several others and his book was, by far, the most helpful and inspiring book to me. I appreciate and recommend this book enormously.

Wonderfully "moving", humorous, and insightful

I know I'll never view someone in a wheelchair quite the same again. John Hockenberry cuts himself no slack, and he expects the same of those around him. Besides being a wonderful chronicle of our times, it is also a story of someone who never feels he is limited by his handicap, but who often is limited by well-meaning friends, family and associates. If it is true that humor can help achieve "wellness", he is one of the truly whole! Hockenberry truly has raised his sense of irony to an art form.

A humorous and entertianing reality

John Hockenberry eloquently shows the reader his life. He tells not only of his exciting career and (sometimes very personal) personal life, but of the trials and tribulations of having a disability. I applaud him for his candidness!
