This book helped me to successfully self-publish my own books

I began self-publishing in 1997 equipped with nothing more than an earlier edition of this book. I basically did everything that the authors, Tom and Marilyn Ross, said do. I had never self-published before and the territory of self-publishing was completely unknown to me. But to this day I have self-published four books, three of which are available wherever books are sold (I took my first self-published book out of print last year), which means my books are nationally distributed through a major distributor (Ingram/Spring Arbor) and are "out there" (just like any other book) with availability in any of the major bookstores (as well as smaller chains and independent bookstores) and in any of the online bookstores too. You can walk into your favorite bookstore and ask for one of my books and if they don't have it right there on the shelf, they'll order it for you. All I did to get to this point was read "The Complete Guide to Self Publishing" and follow it to the letter. The book is an excellent guide. I am living proof that it is.

People frequently call me on my business phone to ask me to consult with them about self-publishing. When I consult with them I always recommend that they purchase a copy of the latest edition of the Ross's book. Additionally, most people are surprised that I am self-published because my books "don't look self published." Booksellers and book buyers alike have indicated to me that my books look as good as any other book that has been published by a standard contract through a corporate publishing company. A huge part of this positive result is due to the fact that I followed the directions in Tom and Marilyn's guide. I'd like to make sure to say, however, that as a Christian and as an author of Christian books I acknowledge that God is the one who ultimately equipped me to successfully move ahead in the area of self-publishing. And of course, God is the one who opened up all of the doors to the opportunities that I needed (and still need) to move my books forward. But I believe that one of the major tools he gave me (besides financial ability and determination)to assist me in the book-writing ministry that he led me to, was Tom and Marilyn's book. And because of the success that I have had in self-publishing (when I say "success" I mean actually being published on a national level) which I attribute in great part to reading "The Complete Guide to Self Publishing," I would strongly suggest to anyone who is considering self-publishing to pick up a copy of this book.

I used this book in 1999 to self-publish my first book, Rich Minds, Rich Rewards: 52 Ways to Enhance, Enrich and Empower Your Life. I followed it step by step and found all of the information I needed to produce my book - start to finish -- in less than four months (started writing in August 1999 and the book came off the presses the day before Thanksgiving in 1999). Seven months after release, I received an offer from a division of Random House for the rights to it. I've since written three books with Random House (What's Really Holding You Back?, Listen to Your Life, and Rich Minds, Rich Rewards) and I'm beginning my fourth book now.

If you are serious about getting your book done, this book will show you how to do it. Know your purpose, create your vision and move forward one step at a time!

Wealth of Information

This is not a book you will just read from cover to cover (though you would gain alot of insight). It's more of a reference book and a very good one at that. It includes almost everything you'd want/need to know about self-publishing. A must for the beginning self-publisher.
