A Wonderful Christ Centered Bible for Young Children

This is a wonderfully written, Christ centered Bible for young children. The writer presents the Scriptures with a Biblical-theological lens at a level that young children can understand. It helps the children see the thematic unity of the Bible very naturally and smoothly. This is a solid and meaty work - a rare find in books for this age group. What makes it even better is that my kids love it! It has been our nightly reading, a chapter a night, for over half a year. We have gone cover to cover many times.

Great Content and Pictures...a terrific help for family devotions with little ones

I have been on the look out for a tool that would help me communicate biblical truth with my little girls. I believe I have found it in The Big Picture Story Bible.

This book is wonderfully illustrated and carefully written. Unlike so many other books geared for kids and modern evangelicals (sometimes the distinction is blurry here) the authors seem to labor for biblical precision; emphasizing a big God and the ugliness of sin. For instance, there is a repeated emphasis upon God's sovereign rule, both in his character and his word; humanity's sinful rebellion against God's rule; and the prevailing faithfulness of God to his promises. In addition, the author, David Helm, regularly asks questions in the course of the book, proving to be helpful fodder for discussion and interaction with your child.

My kids are eager to bring the book to me to read and this gives me great joy as a parent. I am excited to heartily recommend The Big Picture Story Bible as published by Crossway.

Great Overall Summary of God's Redemptive Story in Scripture

My nephews beg to read just one more chapter each night. They are 5 and 3, but this big thick book holds their attention with colorful pictures and an accurate, yet concise account of the overarching story of God's redemption of his people through the Old Testament and the New Testament, always pointing to Christ. This is a great children's book. It is an excellent way to introduce your kids to the themes of the Bible.

The best Bible for young children

We just finished reading this during our family devotions (children 1 & 3 years old). It puts God's plan or "big picture," into bite size chunks that our entire family has enjoyed. We started another "story Bible" but have been disappointed after the stellar quality of this one.

I want my children reading this book.

I bought two of these books as baby gifts for friends. The Story Bible was recommended to me by a father of a three-year-old, who has read through this bible several times with his daughter. The reason this particular Story Bible is so appealing is because it makes the Bible into a single narrative, instead of compartmentalizing it into a grouping of sweet children's stories. The author of this book seemed to want children to understand that the Bible is not a history book, rather a tale of God's salvation through Jesus Christ. I was impressed by every page I read, although the illustrations were not as appealing as I would have liked. Great buy!
