good starter

As a place to start discussing Christian behavior with your children, this is great. Each letter of the alphabet is taught with a verse and a short story about behaving the way God commands us to.

The only problem I have with the book is it is extremely unrealistic in that the children never encounter any sort of negative reaction from their friends for desiring to obey God. I know that from my own experience as a Christian child in the public school system, this is just not possible. You will want to make sure you discuss these sorts of situations with your children in addition to reading these stories.

Heartily recommend this as a devotional book

We are really enjoying this book with our 2 1/2 year old daughters. The format: a Bible verse is featured on each two-page spread, followed by a brief explanation of the terms in the verse and a story/ object lesson that applies the verse in a real life situation.
We are very careful in how we want to impart God's Word to our children...not too babyish, flippant, or foolish, but not above their understanding, dry or boring either. Our girls can really relate to the object lessons, and discuss the verses throughout the day. We would like to buy more books from this author.

Excellent!

Our whole family loves this book. My 3 year old begs to read more than one story each night. He is not only learning verses but also a lot about appropriate behavior. While targeted towards children we have found it convicting for us as well! The book is biblically sound AND interesting.

Excellent devotional material

We use this bok for devotions with our 3 boys, ages 4,6, and 8. They are short enough for their attention span and the focus on a single letter makes it easy for us to recall the verse days later.

Great for devotions with little children

Our two children (aged 6 and 8) are really enjoying this book. The stories offered with each of the verses are very nicely done and something to which our little ones can easily relate. The "Let's Talk" section provided with each story helps fix the teaching in the children's minds. The prayer suggestion then wraps it all up very nicely. This book has proven to be a good investment.
