Excellent Course In Logic

This is a terrific book if you want to see principles of logic misused. Very educational.

The book and ideas are built on the foundation of nearly every logical fallacy, specifically The Straw Man, Argument from Ignorance and False Dichotomy.

Atheists are used as examples in every point made, obviously, but what an atheist actually is changes depending on how it will help prove the premise.

They even break out the hoary old "Atheism is religion" argument.

The way logical arguments are laid out and then mangled, misunderstood and ignored is truly fascinating.

Here's everything you need to know to understand that god exists.

1. Since you don't know what happened before the big bang, it's god.
2. Atheists aren't moral.
3. God exists because it says so in the bible.
4. Since Einstein said "god" once, god exists.
5. Scientists make mistakes.
6. Atheists believe that when you die you turn into worm food. When you believe in god, you can go to heaven.

Turek seems to have had an excellent education and, like good science geeks, expresses great admiration for the great minds, logical discourse and discoveries in cosmology but mangles every conclusion.

Remove each conclusion and you have an excellent book detailing the reasons to understand that there is no god.

Fascinating. Just fascinating.

A Must Read

'I Don't Have Enough Faith To Be An Atheist' is a great read and a superb reference.

The authors have written an easily understandable, logical, and progressive examination of the Christian faith. They start off with a philosophical basic, 'Is Truth Knowable', and proceed from there. They take a systematic approach with each area building on the previous one.

Numerous areas are explored including the existence of God, the possibility of miracles, evidences for Jesus' life and deity, and many others. I highlighted lots of things in this book. It is a book that I will read/study again and recommend to others.

This is excellent in many ways. I think it may even be better than 'Mere Christianity' by C.S. Lewis in the way that it progresses from very basic questions to the ultimate truth in a user friendly way.

I think that the approach used by the authors will be inoffensive but challenging to atheists, agnostics, or anyone honestly seeking the truth about the ultimate reality. It will also certainly provide numerous reasons for Christians to grow stronger in their beliefs.

Highly recommended!

Overwhelming evidence for having faith in God!

I am half-way through this book, but I have already found it to be very helpful in witnessing to others, especially atheists and agnostics. There are some very simple strategies given that will help Christians to be equipped with answers for their faith. It is one of the best books I have read on Christian apologetics and I highly recommend it to anyone who might want to talk with atheists or agnostics about Christianity, or just to strengthen their own faith.

Solid Logical Analysis

Using logic and natural observation, the authors demontrate that there is one true religion. They do not rely on the Bible to prove that Jesus is the only way to God the Father. You have to be open minded and patient as you follow their explanation. Their case is built one precept at a time.

It begins with an examination of whether God exists. The first section shows you how to know He does exist based on logical reasoning. From there they discuss what the nature of God would be. Three potential world religious are left based on the criteria. Others are eliminated after the evidence is examined. Geisler and Turek are convincing apologists for their positions. "An apologist is someone who shows how good reason and evidence support or contradict a particular belief," they point out.

Any materialist who reads what they say about this fallacy cannot help but realize it is inaccurate if that person is openminded. They also note that no one has ever shown macroevolution to be true. It has never occured and takes a tremendous amount of faith to believe because the facts do not line up with it.

This is a well written, powerful book that builds a solid case for Christianity. The one weakness is that they do not realize miralces continue to happen today. They did not end with the apostles. Other than that, it is an excellent book.

An excellent primer to the naturalism/theism debate.

This book is very comprehensive, which makes it a great introduction to the subject but not detailed enough to convince hardened skeptics. I would strongly recommend it to anyone interested in the New Testament's historical authenticity or the philosophical case for a creator. However, the brief, layman-friendly approach to the scientific aspect of the debate left me wanting more, which is to be expected from non-scientist authors. Nevertheless, anyone with an open mind can see just from the basic overview that Geisler and Turek's viewpoints indeed require considerably less faith than atheism. This book may not prove God's existence beyond any shadow of a doubt, but it certainly goes a long way toward exposing the deficiencies of secular humanism. There were a few moments of hasty conclusions and unabashed bias, but on the whole it was fairly objective and grounded in sound logic. Despite the shortcomings of its first half, the latter half of the book concerning the historicity of New Testament documents makes this book a must-read for anyone who doubts the story of Jesus, or for anyone who wishes to enhance his or her faith.
