Beyond Riches

Pema Chodron's work had already illuminated my life (When Things Fall Apart, The Wisdom of No Escape, The Places That Scare You), but the title of "Getting Unstuck" seemed especially appropriate to my work (Out of the Box Coaching). I played it all the way through on two succeeding days and again the following day during travel to conduct a corporate team-building session. A reminder of these concepts was the greatest gift I could have given that team - as individuals and as leaders. If I were a millionaire, instead of money I'd give copies of this CD to everyone I meet.

This is the first tape of Pema I have purchased, but since I bought it, I've purchased two more! She is WISE, SOOTHING, a BALM for the soul and troubled or non-troubled mind! UPLIFING, INSPIRING, and MINDFULL!

Simple and to the Point

I bought the book on CD and it totally lived up to my expectations. Pema is a great speaker and she makes the subject matter simple and easy to comprehend. She is also very humurous and non-preachy. I strongly recommend this book on CD.

Good way to get "unhooked"

Pema Chodron does a great job explaining often convoluted Bhuddist teachings. I did not realize this is a recording of a seminar that she taught (I thought it was a book reading). The main teaching is focused on the concept of shenpa, which is that feeling you get when someone pushes your buttons and you get angry or sad or some other inappropriate emotion. She uses the metaphor of getting hooked, like a fish and goes on to explain ways to get unhooked. Good information and enjoyable narration.

Improve your meditation

The focus of her talks are on problems that occur during meditation and how to best reframe them to get unstuck, especially if you still lose presence during anger. There is an acceptance and gentleness in her solutions. The contents is very much like that found on [...].

The talks are interesting but lack the clarity, structure, density, and innovative thought found in abridged [...].
