Very good reference material

This book was recommended on [...]/BlackAuthorNetwork, and although I thought I had a pretty good understanding of the self-publishing industry, I found out that there was so much more to learn. Poynter discusses everything from what types of packages to mail orders in to who to market the books to. Whenever new writers ask me for advice on getting published, I direct them to books like these. However, after checking Poynter's book out, this will be the primary book I'll direct new authors to.

I got this title at the library, but there was so much information I wanted in it, so I just went ahead and bought one to refer back to. I can see where I need to make improvements in my own marketing as well as be proud of myself for doing plenty of the things that Poynter and other reference books have written. Poynter just gives more detail about each step instead of saying "do this," and I like the elaboration. I will definitely use this book for reference material in my next publication. Thanks a bunch, Mr. Poynter!

If you are like me, then self-publishing is an exciting opportunity. This book will give you a good overview in how the game of self-publishing is played. My one criticism of the book is that it is still steeped in the traditional self-publishing model. There are many new opportunities occurring to get in print and leverage the power of the Internet to simplify distribution, reduce costs, and target your marketplace.
