A Well Reasoned Analysis...

If you're like me, you are reading these reviews in order to see whether it is worth your money/while to read this book. Also, I assume you wouldn't be researching this book if you didn't have more than a casual interest in the Harry Potter Series.

If you want a book that prepares you for the upcoming release of the 7th Harry Potter Book, then I can reccomend this as an excellent read.

It is well written and well organized. I don't always agree with all of their conclusions, but intelligent speculation is exactly what one is looking for in a book like this. One thing I really liked was that they didn't pursue rediculously speculative solutions to the Harry Potter Series.

If I had one quibble, it is that sometimes they treat their inferences and conclusions as facts and then use them to venture into new areas. But it's nitpicking. If you don't take a stand with a book like this it just becomes a bunch of unsatisfying "could be", "might be", "in my opinion" wishy-washy mush. On the whole I think they did a very good job of seeking facts from the books and from J.K. Rowling interviews, extrapolating intelligent inferences from those facts and then drawing reasoned conclusions.

You don't really expect a book like this to get all of it's predictions right. The purpose of a book like this is to add pleasure to the reading of the upcoming Deathly Hallows by allowing one to observe clues one might have otherwise overlooked and to better make reasoned analysis of the book as it unfolds.

I gave this book five stars. I would normally only give it 4 stars because I think it was a very good book, but not one of the greats. But in it's niche - which is analysis of book 7 of the Harry Potter series - I doubt you can hope for anything better researched, thought through or clearly written as this. Thus the 5 stars. Being a fan of the Harry Potter series...I found this book full of information, the things that you might not always remember as vital signs to the out-come. Plus I enjoyed the pros and cons of each situation and each of the character's options...and still leaving everything a mystery.

Basicly I got this just for a pre Deathly Hallows Potter fix, I mean really what Potter fan worth the name doesn't have theories enough of their own. but I will say that there is somthing to reading theories that are close to your own all there in black and white, well reserched and well presented. The bottem line. Will 'What Will Happen" make the wait for the fanal chapter easier to cope with? for me no, to much speculation only leads to a stronger need for solid answers. What this book might give you is clairification to you own theories and some new angles to consider. Since Emerson and CO. are the closest the general public has to Potter experts, it will be interesting to see which theories hit the mark, get close, or go completely wide. And it's also quite a comfort for die hard Pottermaniacs to know that mugglenet will lead the way in questioning and debating long after the last word of DH is read.
