, I've read through a good handful of these instructional
guide
s. Half of them talk only about the motivation for
becoming
vegan, with a skinny chapter about eating veggies. The other half are full of charts and graphs and chemical compound names that bring no bearing to practical applications. This is a rare exception; it is the most informative guide I've read thus far,
complete
with a break-down of every vitamin, mineral, protein and caloric intake necessary regardless of where you're at in life. More importantly, it tells you where to find these building blocks in practical, everyday food options. In sum, it is the most complete, accessible, and practical guide to changing one's
diet

As a physician who is aware of many of the nutritional issues of interest to vegetarianism/
vegan
ism, I congratulate the authors for this readable book. The authors have done a good job at being evidence-
based
and providing practical advice in non-technical jargon.
No "fads" here but sensible advice and an honest review of literature.
I look forward to the next edition of this year book (current book is year 2000 edition).
If you're interested in nutritional asepcts of veganism, you can't go wrong with this book.
