Academic Delight

This is a must have for anybody interested in New Testament Studies. It represents generations upon generations of pain-staking study over the New Testament. The critical apparatus is made for the scholar who is interested in textual criticism but can be used by the most novice of scholars. The text is a compilation of the most reliable ancient texts that the scholarly community uses in their work. While it is probably certain that no one in the ancient world held such a book in their hands, the Novum Testamentum Graece is a wonderful tool to studying the New Testament in the original language. It is important to note that one will still need a lexicon when using this text. The Bauer-Danker Lexicon (3rd edition) will do very nicely.

This preliminary review of this 'The Greek New Testament' is nothing more than a warning that this edition does NOT contain an interlinear translation. I did not look out for this fact and expected it to be like so many other Greek New Testaments with literal English under the Greek. I will do a more detailed review when I am in a better position to appreciate it. At the moment, I can only echo other reviewers to say that this is a superbly portable little volume with excellent binding, plus a Greek dictionary (all in ancient Greek characters, not anglicized Greek)at the back of the book.

If, like me you are just starting out with Greek, you may wish to look for an interlinear edition.

great critical text

For all people professing to "know" the New Testament - Get It!

Great

Very helpful. Since the translation isn't right there, it's great for forcing the student to really translate the Greek on their own.

A Good Greek Text But The NET Diglott Is Better

This was the first Greek text I ever actually had, and it is good. The print is a little small if you have trouble seeing, but they do make a 'large print' edition as well so don't let that stop you.

Where this is not quite as good as the Diglot is the apparatus is less complete. Yes, valuable manuscript information is there, but the NA27 as shown in the diglot is simply better organized.

However, if you are new, this is good because it does NOT have English on the page. Hence, it is good to have it for practice.
