HOORAY! FINALLY!

This boxed set is amazing! These tunes came out of my parents speakers when I was just a tike, and I'm so glad to have them for my own now as an adult! Wendy's use of the MOOG to bring these songs to life is the reason I was exposed to classical music as a child, and I will be forever grateful. I have looked and looked, and been sad that I couldn't get them on CD. Thank you so much Wendy, for re-releasing these to us, your devoted fans in all their digital spender! Perfectly re-mastered digitally, there is an awesome texture and flavor previously not allowed to blossom from vinyl. If I could only have a handful of music to take anywhere, this collection would be it! In fact I never road trip without them. There is also extra "making of" type information at the end of two of the discs that is very cool too. You won't be sorry you bought this collection, even if you have never heard it before. Treat yourself, sit back with a nice glass of good Cabernet, (as long as you aren't road tripping!) and ENJOY! Thank you, thank you, thank you Wendy!

A massage for the brain

I was totally hooked when Sitched on Bach was first released. Over the years my wife would yell at me to turn it down when I was listening with a headset on and she could still hear it. I told her as I have told others it was like a massage for my brain. It sounds great and feels great.

Long awaited tracks

I always thought that presenting classical music through different styles and instruments was a good thing. Do you remember those "easy-to-listen" classical pieces played by some orchestras - that`s how I got interrested in this kind of music, while still in elementary school, and then tried to find out what an "original" would sound like. Around that time, I saw some pieces of Disney`s "Fantasia", and was amazed by the stories came out of the classical music. Then came Emerson, Lake & Palmer with their "Pictures At An Exibition", Rick Wakeman with his synthesized pieces of baroque music and all the way to recent work of William Orbit ("Pieces In Modern Style"). I love them all. Yet, somebody was missing there, all this time: Wendy Carlos! Considering the part of the world where I live, it was most likely that her records couldn`t be find at any time. But some informations were still available, enough to keep me saerching for some bits and pieces. And, finally, here is THE BOX! All four baroque albums in one! Sounding better then ever!(So they say.) I`ve heard them for the first time now, and I can`t get enough of it. I paid the BOX around 120$US, with all taxes and shipping costs, which is more than a doubled regular price, but I don`t mind. This music is worth it. Special thanks to W.Carlos for such elaborate booklet, that contains many interesting and valuable informations for moog-fans, as well as recording musicians. She is obviously not afraid to share her personal experience, even to present some not so glorious takes (I specially enjoy extra and/or never released tracks), and that shows how trully big artist she is. Don`t think twice about purchasing this box.

Not worth the money

Not worth the money. Last track on each CD is Wendy droning about the technical aspects of producing each set, etc. in an emotionless public television monotone which absolutely ruins the listening experience. Aside from the first CD with which you are probably familiar if you are reading this, the rest is all mediocre and pales in comparison.
