Helpful Positive Reference for Parenting with Scripture

This is not a book, I have mine hanging inside a cabinet like a calendar. It is like 2 heavy 11x17 sheets folded in half. It is a great quick reference for those like me who need to improve their scripture memory, but want to use it in their parenting.

I have not read any other Plowman books so I don't know what the negative reviewers are referring to. This booklet says nothing about how to discipline your child, but only encourages one to use the scriptures when "teaching, rebuking, correcting and training you child..." Also it reads "Wise Words are to be spoken with a loving heart and gentle voice..." We practice gentle discipline in our home and I am not at all offended by anything in this "book".

Inside there are 5 columns: Child's Behavior (ex: defiance, bragging, whining) , Heart Probing (ideas of questions to ask your child), Reproof (scripture reference to particular behavior), Encouragement (another scripture reference), then Additional Verses in the last column.

I have found it helpful and have bought it to give some of my friends. It is something I continue to refer to, so I think it is worth $4.

Biblical Misunderstanding

It still amazes me that those who consider themselves to be Christians (after Christ; not Moses or Solomon, etc.)still keep some of what is "called" Biblical law. The Old Testament is a history book which is to lead a believer to the NEW Covenant which has put the Old Covenant (Old Testament) to rest. I shudder to think that the author of this booklet believes that Christ wants them to hit babies and children. Christ taught discipleship. The word 'disciple' means to bring one along side and teach them by instruction and example; not hitting or any other form of violence. I pray that the readers of such books and booklets will follow the example of Christ rather than an outdated, fulfilled, and cast-off Covenant which is no longer in effect.
