deception in the ice

its hard to review this without giving too much away. This is a great book where your strongest allies become traitors to you. The pace is fast and the suspense high. Mr Brown's description of the metorite in this book is pretty well done and the characters are all very strong.

This is a book worth reading!!!!!

The first Dan Brown book I read was Angels and Demons. It was one of my favorite suspense books I have ever read. After reading Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code I knew Dan Brown was a great Author and my most favorite writer. Deception Point like Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code is a suspense book. Deception Point is the type of book that once you start it is very hard to put down. After finishing Deception Point I think it was the best book written by Dan Brown. Dan Brown really did his research before writing Deception Point.
Deception Point is about a NASA find that is located in the middle of an Artic wasteland. Rachel Sexton who works for the NRO or The National Reconnaissance Office as an intelligence analyst. Rachel is sent to the Artic region where the mysterious space object is located to verify its authenticity. Michael Tolland a well-known scientist and some other civilian scientists are sent with her to help her to verify its authenticity. What they find there is very shocking. They find out that the rare object that is buried deep in the ice is a fraud. When they find this out they are chased across the dangerous Artic wasteland by someone who wants the secret to stay a secret. Rachel and Michael's only hope is to find out who is behind this and warn the president.
From the paragraph above you can see why this book is a good suspense book that has a lot of action and many shocking moments. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves the suspense genre or Dan Brown books. I would give this book a 5 out of 5.

A good read, but predictable.

After reading The Da Vinci Code I found Dan Brown to be an intelligent and note-worthy author. I enjoyed his fast pace and on-edge style of writing. After The Da Vinci Code, I read Angels & Demons which I thought was just as good if not better. Deception Point, being the third I've read of Dan Brown's novels has by far been my favorite of the three. This book was hard to put down, I wanted to keep reading more to see what unfolded next. Although, I pretty much already had a good idea how the story would end about three quarters into the book. Dan Brown writes wonderful books, but I have found it quite simple to predict the endings of Deception Point, Angels & Demons, and The Da Vinci Code nearly half-way through the novels. I still rate this book 4 stars because it was a very exciting read, but I wish the author would make it a little more difficult for the reader to unfold the conspiracy before the main characters.

Good, but not great

A male scholar and a beautiful, brilliant woman. Very familiar set-up. In spite of Dan Brown's similar construction of character interaction and dynamics in his books, I'm still very entertained by his stories and can't put his books down. This book would make a great movie, as long as Tom Hanks isn't cast as the head of the NSA! The political sideshow adds fervor to the NASA/NSA conspiracy.

Decent

Deception Point is a typical Dan Brown novel, with decent characters and a decent, albeit far-fetched, plot. One of the more implausible elements of his plot is the presidential debate between the challenging party's presidential candidate and the incumbent party's presidential chief of staff. This novel also features Mr. Brown's bland writing style. This author does not know how to write clever similes, or any other figures of speech.
