So glad I just discovered this author...

I don't typically read "chick lit," but I work in a bookstore and this book really struck my interest when I saw it one day. I was a bit hesitant to actually purchase it due to the whole chick lit stereotpye, but I'm extremely glad that I did.

Maggie very much reminded me of myself, as I was constantly responding to segments with thoughts like, "Oh, I know!" She kept voicing things that I have always thought but have never actually voiced.

I suppose it's true that not a lot happens in this book, but in no way did I find it boring. There was so much wit and humor to keep the book upbeat, and I grew very attached to Maggie throughout the growth that she underwent throughout the book. We kept learning more and more about Maggie and Garv's past as the book went on, which kept capturing me more and more. I fell more in love with the characters with each chapter, and I desperately wanted everything to turn out alright for Maggie and all her friends. I honestly couldn't put it down.

Really, I just loved this book. That's all there is to say! I'm so glad that I found Marian Keyes, and only just now did I discover that she has written books about some of the other Walsh sisters. I'll be picking them up ASAP.

Ohh Maggie

So, Walsh sister Maggie is having some marriage issues. So she packs up and goes to LA to stay with her friend. Her adventures were at times funny, and definalty interasting. Marian Keyes attention to detail, definalty shines thru in this book. However, the reason I only gave it 4 stars it because I found the book just a bit bland at times, and not as original as other of Keyes books. But still a great read, and very enjoyable book. Did I metion it makes for a great summer read.

hollywood ending chick lit

This book actually took me quite a while to get into. There was such a huge list of characters it was a little difficult to follow in the beginning, this being my first Marian Keyes book.

After I got more into the characters and the story started piecing itself together, I couldn't put it down! Every few chapters, Maggie the main character, would shift back to a reminiscing sequence to sort of explain how she got to the point she was at. It took a while for everything to beign to make sense, but it really fell together nicely.

If you enjoy the cheesy Hollywood endings where everything falls perfectly into place, this story is for you!!

Just ok

I love marian keyes's books this one was good and I still enjoyed it I just didnt "love" it as much as her others. If you are looking to dip into her writtings for the first time try watermellon or Last chance Saloon. Those are my fav. I supose it just felt like a generic plot and story line.

Like plain yogurt at room temperature

Maggie Walsh is known in her family as the good one... unlike her other sisters, she is stable, not on drugs, and married her first boyfriend. In all, she's the child in which her parents take pride.

Alas, Maggie's marriage is falling apart. She escapes rainy Ireland for sunny California and plans to spend a month there with her friend Emily.

After a period of mourning her marriage and drowning in self-pity, Maggie helps Emily try to sell her script to film producers. Hyjinks ensue as Maggie experiences the drama that is Hollywood and goes through her own romantic dramas there.

Having read several Keyes books, I'm disappointed in Angels. This has the same characters as her books Watermelon and Rachel's Holiday, yet I did not find myself liking the characters as I had in Watermelon. Angels was enjoyable, but difficult to get into, and I didn't really find myself thinking about it when I wasn't reading-- this is my sign that I'm really enjoying a book. It's a decent book for lounging on the beach or to pass a plane ride, though.
