What a Fun Way to Grow a Child's Vocabulary
I originally bought this book because my sister's name is
Nancy
. I read it to a class of pre-K children. They delighted in Nancy's "
fancy
" words for everyday things and the wonderfully exotic and sparkling pictures in the book.
This book can definitely enhance a child's vocabulary while helping them relate to a little girl who is different than the rest of her family. I found that the young girls seemed to like the book better than the young boys.
Luckily, my sister Nancy is becoming a grandmother for the first time and will have a grand-daughter she can share her Fancy Nancy books with!

charming story with elegant illustrations!
Fancy
Nancy
is a beautiful story with lively and colorful illustrations! Both of my daughters (ages 7 and 3) love it. The 7-year old loves to read the book over and over and has learned to use the French words from the book in her routine conversations. The 3-year old loves to just look at the illustrations while I read it for her every night. They both can relate to Fancy Nancy.
Even little girls like Fancy Nancy
My 16-mo old daughter LOVES LOVES LOVES this book. It is the only one she pulls from the shelf at night. Can't wait to get her the other books!
Perfect for a princess!
When I saw the cover and title of this book, I just knew it was perfect for my granddaughter who is just like
Nancy
! The star of this book doesn't like anything to be "ho-hum"...she dresses
fancy
, decorates fancy and acts fancy. This book has become a new favorite and since there are several in the series, it should be easy to find a gift when needed. My daughter came home after work the other day to find her girls all dolled up their dress-up clothes and they had even convinced daddy to dress up in a tie so he could be fancy, too! Cute book, great illustrations.

Every little girl's dream
My girls loved reading this book and having it read to them. The illustrations are wonderful and playful. The story is long enough but not too wordy. We have to put it away for a short while every now and then. When it is discovered again, the story delights my girls. Recommended for ages 4 and up.
