Great sequel but perhaps unnecessary...

I am really split as to how I feel about the book. On one hand, after The Guy Not Taken and Goodnight Nobody, I was relieved to have an actual novel from Jennifer Weiner that was reminiscent of her earlier books that I loved so much. That said, although this was a well-written book with parts that literally made me sob unabashedly, I think it was perhaps unnecessary. Whenever I read a great book and love the characters, I hate to leave them behind and want to be able to read more about them. However, even though it is so hard to leave much loved characters behind, sometimes it is for the best because continuing the story does not necessarily add more or make the first book better. I feel that Certain Girls was a victim of this phenomenon. I just don't know that it made Good in Bed better for me or that it continued the story in a way that it needed it to be continued. Nonetheless, it was a beautifully written, very realistic book, and while perhaps unnecessary, certainly not disappointing, and the best from Jennifer Weiner in recent years.

Weiner is always a solid writer

This is another very good book by Jennifer Weiner. I had to give 4 stars because it is, in my opinion, not as good as all her others including the short stories. I wish this author didn't get labeled "chick lit" because her writing is far too good for that.

Not bad

Not a bad follow up to Good In Bed. Something towards the ends happens that I didn't think was necessary to the story and it would have changed how I felt about it. I don't want to give it away though...
