Nora Roberts

The only problem I had with this book. I should have saved it until the other two were out. I loved the book and can't wait for book 2 and 3 to come out this year.

Bllod Brothers

Nora Roberts can not do any wrong with her writing. She is trying to tap in the spriit of man without sounding preachy and is doing a great job. I have read almost everything written by Nora Roberts. Great book. Can't wait for the rest.

Daggone it, should have waited for all three

First off, I'm a big fan of Nora Roberts's writing, in general. That probably skews my review. However, I have disliked some stuff she has written, so this isn't a blind recommendation.

For the overview: this is paranormal romance. Three boys - most likely relatives - are tied to a demon who wants to wreak havoc. These boys - men - spend their lives containing the havoc and trying to find a way to stop it.

After 20 some years of this hold play, something changes: the players. Suddenly, there are three women in on the action. Of course, since this is romance, there will be three full romances. This book is the first in the trilogy.

N.R. is famous for her trilogies, and for the most part, I really enjoy them. This is no different. I love the way she writes both male and female characters, and her plots, though not exactly fresh, still read like something new.

The only thing I found disappointing in this book is the finale of it. There really isn't one. In the Three Sisters trilogy (probably the next most popular paranormal fiction series of hers, though she has so many!), each book had an established battle at its conclusion. This book really lacks that, I think. There is a "battle", but it's more like something that should have happened somewhere in the middle of a book. Not at the conclusion.

For me, I wish I had waited for all three to come out, because I think that book three is gonna kick serious bootie.

Trilogies still something I enjoy

I agree with a previous reviewer, the last few years by Nora Roberts when she writes a trilogy are somewhat formulaic. I had discussions with my Mom who thought she did great in the first, second was iffier and third was hard to get through. I disagreed for many years but am starting to come around to that viewpoint.
That being said, I did enjoy Blood Brothers. I will buy and hopefully enjoy the next two. However, once upon a time, a NR book would leave the store in my hot little hands on publication day and I would finish it that night or early the next morning. This one I bought when I tripped over it during holiday shopping and I didn't read it until April. That is not the way I used to enjoy her works.

OK, but not her best

Potentially interesting story, if you like the paranormal/demonic stuff...which I generally do. Story dragged in places, though, and the characters were a little flat. Frankly, the character I cared most for was the dog. Romance was a little smarmy...I mean, Gabaldon pulled off paranormal romance w/out the smarminess...it can be done. Roberts is better than this...she was clearly in a hurry on this one. If you want paranormal stick with Buffy...
