wonderful read
I have not previously read any of Mr. Archer's many novels. That will be corrected in short order.
"A
Prisoner
of
Birth
" is simply a wonderful read. The story is masterfully crafted, the characters are extremely well developed, and the story moves logically, yet with a perfectly exact number of surprises. This novel resulted in a couple of laugh out loud moments for this reader and a few: "atta boys" when things went well.
The original plot of man wrongly convicted has been done many, many times before, but rarely, if ever, with such aplomb.

It'll set you free
This is just a rock solid murder mystery told in clear clean English with a comprehensive conclusion. The characters are genuine; the plot line plausable; and the dialog is crisp and witty. This is Archer at his best--and that's a high standard. If you don't love this book you should be arrested.
good stuff happens
I don't like British authors. I think they get paid by the word. But this story is fun. Throughout the book things turn out well, rather than lots of misery resolved in the last few pages. It's a feel-good book.

Jeffrey Archer has been a favorite author. He has written great books, but his recent books have disappointed me. "A

of
Birth
" was lukewarm, and it took me a while to finish it, whereas in the past, I could not put them down...
