EVEN A WOMAN CAN DO IT ... Or An Un-Handy Man!

Hello everybody. I am a 34 year old single mom. I am not super handy but when there is no man around the house, you do what you gotta do! I put this Weber 300 grill together myself in about an hour. All you have to know how to do is use a screw driver and read an easy instruction manual. (A small mallet or hammer is also neded to bang the wheel parts on. No big deal)

I searched high and low to find both models (200 & 300) at a retail store first because it was hard to tell from the pics available just how big the grilling area actually was. The 200 is a nice size for about 3 people. I seriously considered it because it is portable and only has one burner. It uses a small travel propane canister. You can buy an adapter which allows you to attach a full size propane tank too. Then I thought... Am I actually going to go somewhere and take a decent size grill along for the ride? Doubt it! I never did so before so I would not be missing anything. Then I thought.. If I have company or a BBQ in my yard, the 200 would not be big enough to hold enough food.

I tossed these 2 grills around in my head and did some more research. I came to the conclusion that the Weber 300 was the best choice. Why? The price is not that big of a difference. It had a much bigger grill surface. (25" Across x 17.5" Front to Back) It has 2 burners so if I am grilling for myself and my daughter, we only have to light the center burner which would save propane. There is an adapter, which you can find easily online or at some hardware stores called a "Steak Saver". This wonderful piece attachs to the BBQ hose and allows you to connect a small canister of propane when your large tank runs out in the middle of a BBQ. (Hence the name STEAK SAVER) The lid is super light weight unlike some others where you need to strain to lift it up.

I have been using my Weber 300 grill for a few weeks now and can tell you it is well worth it. Food cooks evenly and no flare ups. Nice grill marks. Don't be fooled... This is a solid unit and has an about average size grilling area without the bulky grill. Wonderful for porches, patios and decks. I made a great choice and I am very happy. The unique design also looks sharp compared to the square, more common BBQ designs around.

CONS: No side burner or second tier grill shelf available.

I also purchased the Weber grill cover which is so easy to put on and off.

Q is for...

Quality, Quick, Quaint, Quirky? Whatever the Q, this is one Qvatious grill! Is that even a word? I don't think so but this grill roQcks! I love it to say the least!
My journey over the last 20 or so years with grills has been Quite a roller coaster. I started out getting myself the cheap $99.00 grill specials. You know, you're on a budget and money talks. I went through three or four of those cheapies in my early years. I also went through quite a few dissapointing cookouts as well with those things they actually dared call a grill. Under-cooked, over-cooked, inconsistantly cooked cuts of meat. I don't even think I grilled a good hot dog with those disappointing pieces of grilldom.
Years later I finally got grill smart and invested a bit more money (although not enough to break the bank) and purchased a Weber Silver-B grill. It was heaven compared to what I had previously used. I realized that what I thought was a good deal in buying those cheap grills of years past, only put me in the grill Hall of Shame!
My Weber Silver-B was a fantastic grill. And I rejoiced every time I used it, with perfectly grilled cuts nearly every time. I got five good years out of it before the burners finally gave up the ghost and it quit working correctly. I was about to order a replacement burner but before doing so my wife decided the Silver-B would be a good garage sale item and sold it in "as is condition". She didn't realize I was just going to overhaul it with a new burning element for about $35 or $40 bucks, and it would have been virtually as good as new. Well, after a bit of quick thinking, (Fathers day was drawing near), my sweet wife went out and bought me a new shmeal, I mean grill. It was another one of those "bargain" grills. (And the crowd goes wild.... Ok, the crowd hisses and jeers) Not to be ungrateful I used this new bargain with not so great results. BBQ-ing just wasn't the same as with the Weber. I could never get it to rival the Weber's capabilities. My grilling rate dropped off because it just wasn't fun to grill what I knew would turn out disappointing.
I caught a break when we sold our house and our moving truck had no room to include the bargain grill. Long story short I conveniently and happily left the bargain grill with the next door neighbor. No word yet if he is cursing my name for the donation.
Needless to say that put me back in the drivers seat to get back into a better grill and after reading several reviews, and with the knowledge and success I had with the Weber Silver-B, I opted on giving the Weber Q 300 a try. After receiving it and three grilling dates later I think I have myself another Home Run Grill! I didn't need the size of a bigger grill nor did I need a side burning unit. I chose the Q300 based on style, reputation and experience with the Weber brand.
I could not be more pleased and my small family (Wife and young teen) also agree that it has done a marvelous job, and we are excited once again to eat from the grill.
Once again, I hope to have a long and tasty relationship with this Weber hit! It's uniQue design, and good looks set it apart from any other grill in it's class, and don't be fooled by the BTU rating. This grill heats up very nicely, and from my use of it so far, it heats very evenly and consistently all over it's cooking area.
My only gripe, (well two gripes) is that 1, I didn't buy this grill sooner, and 2, I had trouble finding one to purchase locally, which is why I ended up on Amazon ordering it which as it turns out I got a price break with no tax and low shipping cost. Ordering it through amazon is not really a gripe, but it just took a few more days to get my hands on it and start using it.
So, What's your "Q"?

Weber Q300

THe grill does everything it was advertised to do. We are very satisfied. The ability to control the two burners is a nice feature. You can get it nice and hot to cook steaks or back it down for chicken or pork. I would buy it again.

Great Grill by Weber

Had a Weber Charcoal grill for years and findly bought the 300 gas grill to. Assembly was find but you really have to look for the axle rod for the Wheels , in cardboard box but hidden and protected real good , make sure you look real good before you call Weber.
In short , like it very much . Can't go wrong on a Weber product , and make sure you buy the cover for it.

This is a great grill

This is not to sound sexist, but for you females out there, this is a great grill. It is much bigger than I thought it would be. It is really easy to put together, except for the tank cover. It helps to loosen the holes in the plastic before you fit it over the pins. Other than that, it was a piece of cake to put together. This is my first gas grill. I must admit I was a bit afraid of it at first. A couple glasses of wine got me over that. It cooks really nice. I love how I can adjust the temperature while cooking. The recipe book says to cook many things on high, but I do them on medium or medium low and get great results. I'm sure this conserves propane. My only complaints with the grill itself are that it does not have a gauge to tell you when the propane tank is nearing empty. Also, I have yet to get the ignition switch to work. I have to use a long match or a lighter to light the grill.

I did have a few problems with the shipping etc. DHL was a day late on the 2nd day shipping (which Amazon chose, not me). After complaining to Amazon I did get a refund on my shipping. Also, the grill came lacking the hose retention clip. I contacted Weber and was told on 5/21 that the part had shipped. Well, it's still not here. After a couple more emails I have a delivery date of 6/5. Seems like a long time to get a small piece of plastic. The book said not to use the grill until the part came, but with a heat wave and the holiday weekend, I just could not resist.
