Amazing Book!

I have been a huge Conn Iggulden fan since he began writing the Julius Cesar series, and now he is tackling Genghis Kahn. I love it even more.
I've found his writings to be historically acurate, and interesting. I've always been a huge fan of Historical Fiction, but i think this book goes beyond the whole Historical genre. It really is a study of human nature and Father/Son relationships.
It starts out with Genghis and his father, and then moves on to genghis and his sons. It's lessons and tribulations are timeless.

Genghis Khan Lords of the Bow

I have read all of Conn Iggulden's books on Julius Caesar and Genghis Khan and loved them all. I couldn't put them down. You feel you know his characters; he brings them to life. In the midst of it all, you learn about the lifestyles, geography, and people of the period. I didn't want to say good bye to Caesar and can't wait until the third book on Genghis Khan. Thank you Conn Iggulden for the richness of history in a riveting story.

Genghis: Lords of the Bow

I love the series, but would like to see Book Three, and the "Sons" of the Lords of the Bow. Good read, overall.

Great blend of history and fiction...

If you like action stories with a build up of characters and twists and turns that make the action visualize in your head as you read it this is a book for you. Yeah Iggulden takes some liberties with historical fact but he also takes pains after the respective book to point out where he embellished or changed the story to suit the path he was taking the book.
Great read, hard to put down, makes you crave the next book like a crack junkie between paydays.

*sigh* What a disappointment

Ok, LotB isn't terrible but it's pretty mediocre historical fiction. I think that the only reason I actually finished it was because the subject matter appeals to me. (That's also the only reason why I didn't give it 2 stars). The actual writing is decent but the book seems to be searching (unsuccessfully for a plot). Sure, there is the historical meta-story of the invasion of China but, as a novel, the plot is weak.

Not recommended.
