About three things I was absolutely positive:
First, Edward was a vampire.
Second, there was a part of him?and I didn?t know how dominant that part might be?that thirsted for my blood.
And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.
?I?D NEVER GIVEN MUCH THOUGHT TO HOW I WOULD DIE? I?d had reason enough in the last few months ?but even if I had, I would not have imagined it like this. . . . Surely it was a good way to die, in the place of something else, someone I loved. Noble, even. That ought to count for something.?
When Isabella Swan moves to the gloomy town of Forks and meets the mysterious, alluring Edward Cullen, her life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. With his porcelain skin, golden eyes, mesmerizing voice, and supernatural gifts, Edward is both irresistible and impenetrable. Up until now, he has managed to keep his true identity hidden, but Bella is determined to uncover his dark secret.
What Bella doesn?t realize is the closer she gets to him, the more she is putting herself and those around her at risk. And, it might be too late to turn back. . . .
Deeply seductive and extraordinarily suspenseful,
Twilight
will have readers riveted right until the very last page is turned.

One of the most romantic books that I have ever read
I can't believe how much I loved this
book
! It is one of the most romantic books that I have ever read without being overly sexualized. Also very cool twist on the standard vampire mythology. Can't wait to devour the rest of the
saga
Also, did anyone else pick up on the numerous similarities between the Roswell High books (and subsequent TV show "Roswell")? Max and Liz are almost exactly like Edward and Bella.
The Book That Started It All
Twilight

Ah...to be a Teenager in love!
OK, I don't know what is lamer....giving this
book
a 1 star rating, or writing on and on about how you feel how bad the book was. And PLEASE, comparing this book to the Harry Potter series, or Anne Rice books??? Give me a break! What are these people expecting??
THIS SERIES WAS WRITTEN FOR TEENAGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! (mostly teenage girls...)
How hard is that to understand?? You just cannot compare this book to any of the HP books, and not even close to the Anne Rice books, they are not even remotely close to being in the same categories!! So what, this book gets over 2,000 reviews....2,000 reviews!!!!...and mostly, I assume, by teenagers who read the book. Are they mostly all wrong??? I think not.
I bought this book, and the next two (Breaking Dawn was not out yet) for my son for Xmas. He really enjoyed the series, but of course, his 14 year old sister (he's 15) got a hold of the books and devoured them! She could not wait for the 4th book to come out! As for me, I am 39, father of 4, and have just finished this first book. I have to admit that I sort of understand what it must be like to be a 17 year old girl!! :)
Let's talk about Stephanie Meyer's writing for a minute. Is it juvenile?? Well duh.... it's not meant for adults to read it! If you have read The Host, which I have, you will see that she can step up to the plate and write for adults as well. What I found interesting with her writing in The Host is that she was able to keep that emotional, sensible writing style she uses throughout the
Twilight
series in her first novel geared toward adults.
Obviously, Stephanie Meyer hit the nail right on the head when it comes to her books. Now they are releasing a movie based on the first book, and, unless it is a flop, which I doubt it will be, will be followed by movies based on the remaining books in the series. So, you may get on your high horse, and criticize the "juvenile" story, lame writing, predictable plot, but guess what, this is a best seller series, and Mrs. Meyer is laughing all the way to the bank!!!
My kids have loved the series, and most other teenagers have loved it also, and, far from my teenage years, I am enjoying the books as well. So, if you just can't understand how teenagers feel anymore, if you have forgotten what it means to be in love without thinking of all the stuff that goes along with it, all that stuff that us adults use to complicate love, well, I guess you are missing out! Sorry. Bella loves Edward, she does because her heart does summersaults when she is near him, and she is willing to give it all up to be with him forever... Have you, Mr. and Ms. critics, have you ever felt that? I know I have, and I was lucky enough to meet that woman, and after 15 years, I cannot wait to be in love forever!
Thank you Mrs. Meyer for making us feel what it is like to be in love!!!
