Dark Pursuit is a thrill ride. It caught me by surprise from the beginning, and though I don't often read a book more than once, this is one that I was ready to read again the moment I finished it.

Can a Novelist Help His Granddaughter?

Darrell Brooke has a well earned reputation as the "King of Suspense." His novels are automatic best sellers and his legion of fans is huge. But that was before the auto accident that left him physically and mentally weak. Now he can't even concentrate to figure out the plot of his one hundredth novel. And he's been working on it for a year.

Meanwhile, across town, Kaitlan Sering arrives home from work early one day to find a dead body in her bed. The evidence makes it obvious that it is her boyfriend, Craig. Since Craig is a police officer and the son of the police chief, she knows she can't just call the cops. So she runs to the only place she feels she can, her estranged grandfather Darrell Brooke.

With her very life in Darrell's hands, Kaitlan has to trust that he will come through for her. But can he overcome his mental fog long enough to pilot Kaitlan through this real life thriller?

Somehow, I had missed the books of Brandilyn Collins until this one crossed my path. I didn't know what I was missing. This book grabbed me early and often. There were several times I was turning pages while holding my breath to find out what would happen next. One section seemed a little too drawn out, but that's a minor complaint.

Unfortunately, the character arcs could have been better. Darrell is a grouch, and I got tired of his character about half way through. Unfortunately, in the rush to end the story, several character elements seemed glossed over. That includes the Christian element, which seemed tacked on.

These complaints aside, I will pick up another book by Brandilyn Collins again. She can tell an incredible story that will have you glued to your seat turning pages.

Dark Pursuit

Dark Pursuit takes you on a tumultuous course of dangerous errors made by an arrogant old man trying to redeem himself as "King of Suspense." When Kaitlan, his estranged granddaughter, presents him a true-life problem, instead of helping her he plunges her into danger.
She informs her grandfather that her boyfriend has killed a woman in her bed and possibly two other women. Instead of doing the correct thing, he complies an elaborate plan to clear her name of any wrongdoing and capture the killer. But he was injured in an accident two years earlier and his brain doesn't function as clearly as it should. His overconfident attitude nearly gets them all killed.
As I read deeper into the storyline I thought I had the whole story figured out, how wrong I was! The twists taken in this book were totally unique and unexpected.
Brandilyn Collins proved to me once again why she is an extremely popular author. Her books are exciting, invigorating and Dark Pursuit is by far one of her best. Believe me you will want a copy of Dark Pursuit for your library and one or two copies to give as gifts to your friends. This is the type of book you want everyone you know to read so you can talk about it with each other.
I know I will highly recommend this book to all my family and friends.
