Not necessary at all really
The
Civil
War
Companion
is basically just as it's title implies: a companion TPB to
Marvel
's cataclysmic Civil War crossover mega event. Instead of focusing on side stories or events during the main Civil War storyline, the Civil War Companion features some material from Civil War authors Mark Millar and Steve McNiven, faux-Daily Bugle stuff, S.H.I.E.L.D. dossiers, and the like as well. As you can no doubt tell, there's nothing here that hasn't been seen before, and if you've been closely following the Civil War storyline, it's aftermath, and everything before and after it, there's nothing here you don't really know already. Then again, it's relatively inexpensive, and possibly worth checking out for Civil War collectors, but casual readers are better served with leaving this TPB on the shelf.
