One a penny, two a penny, hot cross buns. If you have no daughters, give them to your sons. In this, the first of The Number Mysteries, Doug Hammand is found filleted in the frozen flounder section of McCutty's Market with a coded message pinned to his one good suit and a cowberry necklace wound tightly about his throat. The deranged, love-sick killer challenges syndicated numerologist Samantha Blackwell to a duel of the minds before he fillets again.

Bonus: Your personal cycle in the Addendum to One Deadly Rhyme.

One Deadly Rhyme is an "...engaging first novel...Bunker mixes the puzzles and suspense with a healthy dose of humor."
-Lynn Harnett, Book Reviewer, Sunday Herald

"A Real Page-Turner. Sue Grafton move over! I loved this book. Sam is a believable character, with a passion for numerology, writing, and her family. An added bonus: a numerology lesson in the back of the book."
-Catherine Ward (cibward17@aol.com)

"Congratulations, Dusty. It's a winner! Dusty adds such life to her characters...especially Samantha. I loved this (book)."
-Millicent Hart, romance novelist

Sam is great!

Finally a leading character I (and most women) can identify with. Sam is smart and funny. She lovers her work but her family comes first. Now, if she could only lose 10 pounds... I can't wait to see what Sam is up to in the Number 2 book.

A Page Turner!

Wow! This book kept me up 'til 2 a.m.! Cowberry chutney, a rhyme-chanting killer, secret codes - everything a mystery lover could ask for. I loved the characters, the twists, and the surprise ending. You'll love Samantha and her husband Nick and a whole bunch of unforgettable characters in this small New England town. I can hardly wait for the next book in this series!

keep guessing

As the story unfolds in what vividly appears as a real N.H. setting,I think we come to know both the main character and the author through all the many personal comments that are shared. As for a whodunit...definitely a case for a Sherlock...or perhaps new kid on the block...Samantha, the numerologist detective. A tough mystery to crack!

Inspiration

I got this book because I have known Dusty Bunker for as long as I have known my best friend who just so happens to be her grandson. Dusty has always wanted to be a mystery writer and now she has had her chance.
When I read the book, I couldn't put it down. Dusty made the world in this book seem real to me. I felt like I was there watching the whole thing. Of course, when I picture Samantha Blackwell, Dusty is whom comes to mind.
Great work Dusty.
