Collecting the formative issues in the grown of Invincible as a superhero. This volume collects Invincible's violent battle with the villainous Angstrom Levy, his reunion with his estranged father and the bloody battle with the Viltrumites. This is a can't-miss for any Invincible fan and a perfect addition to any bookshelf.

Excellent series

Very good continuation of the Invincible story line. Mark finds out what happened to his father and discovers that he has a half-brother on a distant planet.

Best Volume Yet

This volume really sold me on the series. I enjoyed the series before, but for some reason wasn't a huge fan. Something about this volume, though -- the way the scope of the story just kept expanding, the way so much from past stories continued to build, the way the characters started to grow, all the very entertaining action -- it just really made me a big fan. I actually went back and reread volumes 1 and 2 of the hardcovers after reading this, and then went out and bought volume 8 of the trades (since no more hardcovers have been released yet,) and I gotta say, I'm a big Invincible fan now. Volume 8 was even better. This series just continues to improve as it goes. Kirman's building a fun, exciting world, and Ryan Ottley draws it very, very well. Ottley is brilliant on this book, and his art is perfect for it. The action sequences he does are phenomenal and brutal, and are even more effective because Kirkman does such a good job of building to them. Overall just great, fun stuff.

Great stuff

This volume continues the quality of the first 2 and even adds a few new elements with romantic tensions, the return of Nolan and Mark's family seeing an unexpected addition.
The art just keeps getting better and better.

If you've been reading the series it's a must have.
Invincible is one of the best super-hero books on the market today.

Short measure

Following on from the excellent previous two volumes,comes this,no.3.Whilst still up to the standard set previously,there was a noticeable missing twelfth issue in this,replaced with a(in my opinion at least),very inferior comic called the Pact.Art and story were at best average ,with some attempt at placing games(a maze,etc) at the back,a la Alan Moore's great league of extraordinary gentlemen series,which is in hommage or pastiche of the British comics of the past.In sum,worth while,but if this short measure is the trend as Invinvcible becomes more successful,I cannot give the 5 star rating the Invincible stories contained withindeserve.

Fumbled at the end

Everything was great with this collection. Right up until the end where we don't get a real last issue. i want invincible not some stupid fill in issue crap. I really hope they don't do this for the next hardcover.
