Provides the best examples in the industry

This book presents clear examples of the critical practices of project management. Ursula makes complex work breakdown structure (WBS) and scheduling techniques easy. Her experience as a practitioner and instructor shines through this work. If you want a dry, academic book...go elsewhere. This is a dynamic presentation of important cost and scheduling practices for those of us who really need to apply them on projects. There is no other book out there in its class.

A concise and coherent treatment - a great reference book.

This book is hands-down most useful, clear, and light-weight treatment of the topic I ever owned. It imparts the essential project management fundamentals related to cost and schedule control in a language that is readable and easily internalized. The simple clear-cut analogies Ms. Kuehn employs supply handy "gut feel" mnemonic help for the techniques and the formulae. The book is at once a good tutorial for a novice and a handy concise reference for a pro.

The Tone is JUST RIGHT

I have read many EVM books and find this one exceptionally well written, easy to follow, but not condescending. Ms Kuehns strikes the right balance between technical competence and telling a good story. Her examples are logical and based on realistic scenarios. I am using this text to prepare for the Earned Value Professional (EVP) certification, a 7.5 hour exam that tests one's knowledge of Earned Value and I am certain I will be prepared for the exam. More importantly, this book prepares me for real-life challenges I face on a daily basis with balancing the perfromance of tasks that make up my overly-ambitious project using the limited resources allocated to me.

This is a must read for every project member

This book is appropriate for anyone from the novice to the experienced practitioner. I particularly recommend this book for Program Managers and executives who think Earned Value is too complex or too deep in the weeds for their interest. Ursula explains, using straightforward examples, that Earned Value Cost/Schedule Integration is just good project management that provides a common language for comparison across projects.
This book has earned a place in my EV tool chest!

Simple and complete

With a simple language, good and real-world examples, and exercises, this book makes simple subjects like WBS, cost/schedule planning and control, Earned Value Analysis, PERT, risks of estimates.

A very good and valuable source of knowledge / learning in Project Management.
