Sex and The City/First Season
Wanted to see the show from the beginning before seeing the movie. Now I'm very sorry I didn't watch it while it was on HBO. Great series!!
Translation of the Articles that started it all!
I love Sex & the
City
. Recently, I have been reading the original articles from the Observer to see how this show came about.
The
first
season
is quite a good translation of ideas from Bushnell's articles into parts of each episode. The "interview" portions where people look directly into the camera and comment on the episode's topic is very much like Bushnell's journalistic questioning.
Although season one is not my favorite season as a whole, there are so many great episodes and quotes that it is a must have for fans.
I find the comedy fresh and inspiring: written by women, for women, and portrayed by women. It discusses things that were not too common before this show existed on television. And it broke free of the old television mold for women, no longer is it a virgin v. slut conflict, it is a story about real complex women that seem to inhabit a fantasy world of shoes, cocktails, and fast lives.
But remember, above all things, it is a show meant for entertainment.

Interesting...
By far the weirdest
season
of SATC, but still good. It isn't at all what you find in season 6 but the essence of all the girls is there. The
first
season is more about Carrie doing research for her column by interviewing people and talking straight to the camera. The series definitely gets much better with passing seasons.
