MGM (Video & DVD), 1998
Nice Story And A Real 'Sleeper' Of A Film
This was kind of a 'sleeper' in that I have never heard much about this film - it's not well-known, never been out on DVD, but it's very good: almost like an old-fashioned classic era story in that is guaranteed to bring a tear or two to your eyes at the end. I say ...
Adventures of Robin Hood [VHS]
Errol Flynn
,
Olivia de Havilland
MGM (Video & DVD), 1993
Marginally better than the DVD
The Adventures of Robin Hood is my all time favourite movie, having first seen it about 1950, when I was just a kid. I already had the DVD, which was an excellent transfer. The Blu-ray version is therefore only marginally superior, but has loads of worthwhile extras. ...
Mr Skeffington [VHS]
Bette Davis
,
Claude Rains
MGM (Warner), 1998
Some kind of wonderful
You can't get better than Bette Davis in my opinion. Claude Rains is a wonderful male lead, portraying a calm, long-suffering Mr. Skeffington to Bette's selfish, manic Mrs. Skeffington. You won't want to miss a minute.
Casablanca [VHS]
Humphrey Bogart
,
Ingrid Bergman
MGM (Video & DVD), 1994
Simply the best movie I've ever seen
There's nothing I can add to the reviews here other than to say I've seen "Casablanca" at least forty times. If all goes according to plan, I'll see it at least another forty times before I fade to black.
Singin' in the Rain [VHS]
Cyd Charisse
,
Mae Clarke
Warner Home Video, 2000
This wonderful picture will make you wanna sing...
Who doesn't know the words to the song `Singin' in the Rain'? I mean, seriously, even if you have yet to see the movie I'm sure you could sing that song word for word right now. Go ahead; I'll wait. The thing is that I too had never seen this movie yet knew ...

Maid to order, masterpiece
This movie is just great! Actually I'm a huge fan of popular-romantic-teen movies like this, but spite their aparentely silly plots they are not so easy to make. It is hard to find one with such great costume design, music, timing and script all directly in harmony! ...

Now Voyager [VHS]
Bette Davis
,
Paul Henreid
MGM (Video & DVD), 1998
Yes, truly... an extremely ravishing film from Warner Bros., BUT...
I wonder if this film REALLY ends as beautifully... and as positively, as so many of its viewers are led to believe... or are we swept-along (manipulated) by the outstanding performances, the high-romanticism of the film and/or its truly outstanding and iconic ...

Passage to Marseille [VHS]
Humphrey Bogart
,
Claude Rains
Warner Home Video, 2000
Great movie!
Be warned, this is not your typical Bogart movie if all you are used to is Casablanca and the Maltese Falcon, however it is highly recommended if you want to see Bogart in a different type of role, and don't mind him being not as noble as some of his other films ...
Wolf Man (1941) [VHS]

Universal Studios, 1992
Classic of the genre
When it comes to the horror genre you'll be hard pressed to find a studio with a greater legacy than Universal. Without Universal who knows where our beloved genre would be. While Universal has produced many classics it really is their Monster movies they'll always be ...

Notorious
I love this movie! The acting and plot are fabulous. With Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman how can you go wrong.
Mr Smith Goes to Washington (Spec) [VHS]
James Stewart
,
Jean Arthur
Sony Pictures, 2000
We need another Mr. Smith
***spoilers*** I can see why the congress at the time this movie was made tended to sneer at the portrayal of them in this movie. Nearly everyone is corrupt, magalomaniacal, and more interested in personal glory than what's best for the country. They cow-tow to the ...

Ginger Snaps Back rocks!
I'm usually not a werewolf/monster movie buff. But the "Ginger Snaps" series flat out rocks. Ginger Snaps Back is actually a notch above its predeccessor. I loved it.
